I am planning to purchase a new pair of snake boots. After a little research I have just about decided on the Chippewa brand. They are a little pricey but the reviews are good. I would appreciate any and all opinions and recommendations on snake boots if you have em.
Thanks

I have heard nothing but good about Danner but I dont think they make a pull on. Would you think the soles would be to wide for a standard saddle stirrup? The reason I ask is that I usually find that the soles of lace up boots are extra wide. I wouldnt normally be an issue but I have a triple E foot as it is. I have several pair of Rocky lace ups that I use for elk hunting. I can just barely get the tip of my boot in the saddle stirrups.

I wear Rocky lace ups and they feel like wearing tennis shoes. They are VERY comfortable! They fit in a stirup just fine. Never had my feet to get wet in water or riding/walking in snow.

I've owned both Chippewa's and Danners, and the Danners are by-far my favorite. The Danner Sharptail Covey's are a pull on, and also available in different width's.
The also have a more rugged type sole instead of a standard flat boot-type sole which make crawling up muddy creek banks and such much easier.

I have the same danners and feel the same way. They discontinued the pull up snake boots for a while and I was disappointed when it happened. When I found out they brought them back I immediately ordered another pair to have as a back up. The problem is my original pair won't crap out on me so the new pair has been sitting in the box in my closet for 7 months. LOL And by the way, after almost 2 yrs of abuse the danners are still 100% proof. I dare you to find another snake boot that can say that.

Been hunting for a couple weeks with these now and I am very pleased. They flex and bend like tennis shoe, good grip climbing out of creeks, and light weight. There was literally no break in. They were a little snug the first hunt by the second hunt they felt like I'd been wearing them for years. I will never go back to the Chippewas after these... night and day difference.

Well, I bought a pair of both!
My Danners came in and just didnt fit so I sent them back for a different size. I needed a pair in a bad way so I went down and tried on a pair of Chippewa's # 23913.
I have been hunting in them about a dozen times now and I love them. The break in time was nothing. My 1st hunt with them I remember thinking "these boots hurt like heck and I aint gonna be able to finish this hunt!" An hour later and after catching a little boar in a pond, they were fine. Walking in them all day will not be a problem. I have been hunting on my mule full time here lately and my Chippewa 23913's are almost perfect for the saddle. I say almost because the buckle kind of gets in the way of my spur straps but I figured out how to make it work. Other than that, I am not disappointed in the least.
My Danners are in and they fit much better than my last pair. When I get them broke in and make a dozen or so hunts in them I will give you a report. I am hoping to get the same results out of them that you guys have. I can already tell that they will not be as practical for saddle stirrups as my Chippewa's but the quality is obvious and I can see that they will probably hold up longer than my Chippewa's. Only one way to find out for sure though! The only complaint I have so far is that I cant find a store anywhere around Houston that sells the Danner model I am interested in! Strike One! Its no big deal unless you have weird feet like I do.
Thanks again for the link "cull buck".
