Go to a radio shop and have them build you one to these specs.

~4' whip antenna tuned to 152.5 mhz, 3db gain, magnetic mount, with a female SMA connector.   That's what I did, and this is a picture of my first test run with it. In case you can't see it, it is reading 7 miles. I have not had them range that far this spring, but I have picked them up several times at 2-3 miles.

radio shop. One that handles motorolla or kenwood style two way radios.  Radio shack in my area is a joke.

I don't have a radio shop around me that I know of. How much would one cost and do you know of any shops?

I bought a magnetic roof mount ant for mine. Picks them up 2-3 miles easily. It was about 35 I think.

Hey purebreed or circle c

Is this antenna something you leave on constantly or put it on once you lose the dogs.  My only concern is getting it broke in thick cover getting to the bay.

Well I ordered mine and it should be in Monday of this week.  They don't offer the dc-30 bundle anymore so I ordered one dc-40 bundle to see how it will perform before I spend my money on more dc-40s.
