go ahead and hunt her....if you want pups...lol...if you have all females hunting a gyp in heat isn't a bad thing, but if you got males they will get "hung"..

NOT TRUE!!!!!!!

I can tell you plenty of stories where someone left an old male dog in the woods.  63 days later, BOOM, you've got pups.  If someone finds your in heat dog close to a road, brings it to their yard (letting it "play with their dogs (happen to be males)), calls you 10 minutes later to let you know they found your "lost" dog, BOOM, you've got pups on the way.

DON'T HUNT A DOG COMING IN UNLESS YOU WANT PUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  LOCK HER UP.

Just saying.

It also is not much fun when you want your dogs to hunt and all they want to do is mate. It makes for a not so good hunt.

I can also tell you that most (NOT ALL) females act a little out of the ordinary slightly before they come in, while they are in, and a short time after they are in heat.  Some will want to run trash they normally would not touch, while others won't want to leave your feet.  I've always found it best to leave them in the kennel.  It won't kill you to just leave them.  I assure you.  Don't hunt a female in heat.  That is my point of view.  ETHD.com may or may not have the same opinion.

I went on a hunt with sum buddies of mine and brought my CD. All tha dogs were male exept tha one female that was in heat. It was a mess all dogs were tryin to stay with the gyp and mate my pit witch dosnt ussually pull was pullin tha whole time. then this redbone starts tryin to fight my pit. after we get them apart the redbone started fighting my friends other dog. It wasnt a good hunt at all an ide seggest leave tha gyp at home. but it all depends on tha dogs.

When you got a hot chick and a bunch of young guys what happens? They start fighting. Not all but some will. You can put Mentholatum on their butt to cover the smell. But I would not take her hunting. I got two gyps and that is the downside. But one gyp is my best dog right now. I just know there will be times I can't hunt until I get better males.

Throw some "Vics" on your balls and let me know how it worked out for you.  Plenty of people do it like you stated, but it does not make it right.  If it ain't good for me, it ain't good for my dogs.  Good motto to live by.

Dont think a coyote wont breed your bitch either. It has happened. Like everybody else  is saying. Put her on lock down if you dont want her bred.

Never thought about it that way but its a dang good way to look at it.

That is why I said the butt. Like on top of the tail. I would not take the chance on some funky puppies. I lock mine up. I got a male that wants to fight when any gyp is in heat. So I will put vics on his nose.

I've taken the "6" on the Tri-Tronics therefore, I know they will live.

DID NOT SAY THAT THEY WOULD NOT HURT THOUGH!!!!!!   Evil

If you do the vics thing, put some vasoline on first then put the vics on the under part of the tail. Works like a charm. The vasoline keeps the vics off the tender parts.
