Will Equimax get rid of everything? I do not what to figure out what worms each dog has. I got one that I think has round worms and another with tape worms. I understand Equimax also has Ivomec in it. So if I switch to Equimax will that take care of the blood and the intestinal worms? Is there anything else I need to worry about? I have not bought it yet but how is it measured? I need it in simple terms so a simple mind like mine can understand.

If I use Ivomec will Safegaurd get rid of round and tapeworms? What is the best way to give Safegaurd. I just got a call from my dad that my dog was pooping blood and there were worms. I have got to take care of this fast.

I was just told virbantel is the only thing for tape worms. Is that true?

Safegaurd wont kill tapes eather. Go get some happy jack tape worm pills and follow the directions or get some fish forte or fish tapes pills from mid vet or another online vet.

Might try some Drontil(check spelling). You have to get it from vet, and it isnt cheap but it works good.  I know it will get tapes but dont know about the other stuff.

According to my vet....to kill the tapes with zimectrin gold...you'd damn near kill the dog with the amount of ivermectin. Praziquantel is what you want for tapes.

Canex is gets everything including tapes.  After the dogs are clean they say give it every 3 months.  They are big pills so I mash them up in a pill masher and mix them in a can of food.  I give Ivomec the other months for heart worms.  That's about the cheapest combination that  I've found that sure enough keeps the dogs slick.

Just Googled Canex and even found a generic too. You have get it from a vet or online. It is for dogs. Thanks that and Ivomec. I knew there had to be a simple way for a simple mind like mine.

Seems like I ordered the Canex from Joespetmeds.com or Interpet.biz.  Just look and see which place is cheaper.  Seems like it came from Australia and like he said it is meant for dogs.

Also keep in mind that this is mosquito season so stay up on the Ivermec or Zimectrin Gold or Heart Guard or whatever you're using for heart worms.

Derek did just one dose get them "clean".  I was thinking about buying this and trying it but at $4/pill and 2 pills per dog I would like to think one dose would get em taken care of and then just every three months hit em again.  I couldn't find anything about just hitting em once every three months is that on the package or just what you have found that works.

If the dogs are wormy now you will have to hit them once to kill what they have and then wait a week or so for the existing eggs to hatch then give it to them again.  I don't know the exact number of days you should wait to give a second dose but about a week would probably work pretty well.  After that they are pretty easy to keep clean.  Here's a link to buy it and it mentions the part about giving every three months:
 http://www.interpet.biz/canexm.html
Interpet.biz sells it for $1.89/pill if you buy 10 pills and $1.39/pill if you buy 100 pills.  One pill per 22 pounds. So a 66 lb dog is less than $6 every three months to kill every type of worm except heart worms.  Just to kill tapeworms is usually more than that.  Compare that to Drontal and it seems pretty reasonable to me.
