A spur of the moment hunt was made yesterday. I was going to Meet Monteria(Steve) at Mikes (BayedBlue's boss.)to drop off a dog to him in the afternoon. Thinking we might make a run I loaded up Atee(lacy) and Nine(blk mouth) in the box. Went over to the g/f's(Amanda) house to do some work on her car. While I was working on the injecters Mike was calling saying to get ready and come over. Hurried up and some how talked Amanda into coming with us. Showed up to Mike's house LATE(as always) dropped off Amanda's little girl and we loaded up to go. Robert was also with us. We had a few of Mike's young dogs, Robert's(runreddog) Helo, Steve's 2 lacy dogs and two of mine. For bulldogs we had the every I am going to kill every hog I see Mia and the devil offspring of Mia- Steve's Ollie. Amanda was alittle worried about the whole deal. Not the hunting side but she just didnt want to see any dogs get hurt firsthand. We headed to a place that Steve and Mike picked up a few weeks back. Got tot he ranch and dropped dogs. Worked a mile or so and made a stop at a tank to let the dogs get a drink. After a few min. we noticed that Steve's blue dog was messing. Got the tracking system out and it said that he was out a ways. After a few min. we heard the bark. About that time the other dogs took off in the direction. Robert,Kass(Mike's little girl) Steve and I took off running. Amanda got in the truck with Mike. When we were about 100 yards out Steve cut out Ollie. I was running when she pased me at mach3. Caught hog!! I ran in and grabbed the back legs to flip it. Everyone showed up a few seconds later. We had the hog on it side and a knife was given to Amanda. A few seconds later her first kill was on the books!!! Has never shot a gun at an animal or an arrow at a target but as stuck 8'' of steel into a hog!!! It was s sow about 130-145lbs.We got dogs pulled off and off we went. We ended up with 4 total hogs for the night. 2 avg. size and two smaller ones. And I hate to say it but all pigs were harmed in the making of this memory.

And the sad part is that no one had a camera. Julie(convert) was at home with an injury so.................. Where were you Don?

Sorry for the long read.
-Mike-

Good going Mike.  Tell Amanda I said congrats!  Has the experience changed her mind on letting us test drive her pit in a pen? Grin

Thats great! Tell Amanda congratulations!
tell her this is from another females prespective- Once you start going hunting and seeing the dogs absolute love what they are doing will change your focus from worrying about when they are going to get hurt. None of us ever want to see our animals get injured, but when you see the dog making the "CHOICE"
to get closer or move in for a bite, it's not that you told them too, they just do it. Too me it's like people choosing to play football, you know it might hurt but you do it anyway, Or sky diving. They get to be junkies for the punishment because thats what they would rather be doing, and after you see this multiple times it takes away some of the pre-worrying about the injuries, you just accept it as part of the game and keep playing. If I did not enjoy watching my dogs work I would most likely not even hunt myself, Dog hunting is the only kind of hunting I do.

"Monteria, whats the deal man, your better half let you go hunting without her?  LOL.  "

At least you call her my "better half". Some times I think that she is my ONLY half. Most people like her better than me anyway.........
