On an earlier post I asked about getting info on training my dogs to hunt hogs. In that thread, somebody stated they thought it was illegal to hunt hog here. I said I thought that used to be the case but not now. HOWEVER, I was finally able to get ahold of a human at the Parks and Wildlife office who confirmed that it's illegal to hunt hogs here!! I'm really bummed about the whole thing. I guess I'll have to go to OK or TX to hunt bacon.

Anybody in OK or northwest OK willing to let me tag along?? My dogs wouldn't be with me as they are only 2 and 3 month old Catahoula's. But I'd like to at least see how folks work with their dogs etc.

Find a way to import about 100 hogs and give  them about 5 years and they will be calling.

according to the parks and wildlife officials on ft riley ks they are trying to bring the feral hog pop back up. according to the oppossum sheriff at riley, they are starting a large group og hogs in the topica or ever how u spell the capital( was stationed in ks for almost 3yrs and cant spell the capital) area in surrounding small communities. i dont know the truth to the resarting the hog pop but thats what the game warden on filey said. Oh by the way, the deer mount on my profile came off ft riley, shot him at less than 20yrds with a bow.

Stonewall I am in NE Texas and I know probably a drive for you but as soon as the weather cools some your welcome to come down for a week are so and hunt. Bring your dogs with you if you want to as well. Don't get discouraged. in a few years the governing bodies in Kansas will be crying like little girls wondering what the hell they were thinking. Kansas=Farms and hogs love to tear up pretty plowed fields lol. They'll likely be paying you to get rid ofem . We started battling them in South Texas b4 I was born, Now big ranches shoot literally hundreds at a time by helicopter, and they have continued to thrive without so much as a dent in the population. Coming up to Ne Texas, they are just as bad up here.

Well I guess I was right about no hog dogging in kansas then.
Doesn't make sense why they would do away with it before it even got started.

I got a friend who lives in Mo. and hunts as much as he can. He lives in anderson Mo. but hunts more in Ok just across the line. if ur interested if u dont live to far from him i will giv him ur num and yaw can discuss getting together for hunts.

Next they will say you can't the roaches. Native animals I understand. But if you wipe out a non-native animal wouldn't that just bring back the native environment? Got to love them politicians! I love it when I see the news and they talk about wild hogs invading neighborhoods. That just means hog hunters look a little better to the public. Just release some hogs near the rich neighborhoods. When their landscaped lawns and flowerbeds get rooted up hog hunting will be legal real fast! Let the hogs attack their pets and it will make the news.

Charles... I shot you PM - earlier before I read replies to my post. Interesting info about the sheriff in Ft. Riley. Went by there once to go to an A&M/KSU game. Heard there is a nice gun store just off the base in Junction City. That true?

MDowns; I go to NE Texas a couple times of year since I'm finished school there (Whitehouse). I miss them piney woods and red dirt!! I really appreciate your offer and will look at going there in October sometime for sure. My dogs will be totally different by then!! And your right, Kansas=farming, big time.

Gotta admit, some of these replies were really funny! I called a friend of mine just a minute ago and he said there is talk of bringing hog hunting back. The most hog sightings are around Medicine Lodge and right now they just send up a helo with a sniper and take them out. He said the just let them lie Sad  As fast as they breed, I imagine it'll get out of control soon.

Thanks again y'all for the advice...
