Good cut kit

I just started hunting and got my firstdog cut last night, I was prepared but it got me thinking what all is in a good cut kit?

Heres a good post for it http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/index.php?topic=196.0 , but there is a lot of stuff in the list, unglydog/wildboarusa? carries a nice little kit that i carry with me, and i think i remember seeing a hunters wife on the boad that will put together a nice kit for a good price, she doesn't even try to make money off them, and you have options
Do a search for it, in the dog doctor forum, try cut kit or first aid, or wait for someone to chime in with the name.

makes you feel good to have a kit in your bag....

Something I have never seen in a cut kit that I have in mine is salene wash that comes in a can I gat it at the dollar store and it is real handy

Tampons (for heavy bleeding/puncture wounds)

We rarely staple our dogs up, just keep it clean and put them in with another dog so they will help keep clean...usually 1-2 days on meds and they are good to go.  
If its something you do not already have you def need to get ASAP you may only use it once a year but its better to be prepared than to loose a dog or scramble for something you don't have.

This is a great list of the essentials.  The only thing that I would add to this list is sutures.  If an artery gets cut you will need them to tie the artery off, also for any chest cavity pokes/ gashes.  I also carry Benedryl or any antihistamine with me incase a dog has an allergic reaction to something.

I keep Benadryl here at  the house but never thought about taking with us.

IMO staples are easier to use on a squirming dog, I carry cat-gut with me but have yet to use it.  I always go for the staples and a handful of tampons.  I was told by a vet once to just pack a hole/puncture full of gauze and pinch it off, it has always worked.....the tampons came from my uncle and momma who tell of the old timers using them to cut stud horses, they are much easier to use and remove than gauze.

What kind of arteries are you tying off ?  I am just curious as I havent seen anything that didnt need to be packed ASAP to stop the bleeding.
