Just curious, who's run their dogs on other big game?

I've had the opportunity to run bear twice.... getting smoked(and whooped) both times.   Who else has tried their hog dogs on other "big game"? I'd love to turn in to a cougar, jaguar, grizz, or polar... just haven't had the oportunity yet

Cows.......Some that are every bit as wild as most feral hogs. 

I Would like to start my Curs on Cats, but they really dont have the desire to cold trail enough to do much hunting in big cat country.  Might have to spend a week looking for a cat track hot enough to put them on lol.  It Would be allot of work to get some bred up that would cold trail a big cat.  If you are interested in that kind of stuff read a book called the Ben lilly legend.  Its all about hunting Black bear, grizly and panthers with dogs.

If I'd had a different bulldog last wknd, I'd a turned him into a rouge bull that kept baying in swamp bottoms.  The horses couldn't get close enough to him and every time I got in on foot he'd break and run...  I could've at least got a rope on him to drag him out.   I just couldn't ask my cowbroke CD to do what needed to be done.... although I know she'd of done it if I asked.

ive seen on boardogs.com where some guys caught some bulls and tied them alive and tied them down on the back of there trucks

yeah, clint i ve seen on tv where  they d run up beside them in a truck and have an arm come down and clamp em.    them trucks would sometimes reaLLY GET A LOOTA AIR  under em  before they got em caught.  i d give my best friends right nut to be in on one of them deals. 
               we always rope em n tie em down  then  have to lead em to a truck or get the truck to them .

I use my dogs on cattle alot, I would guess 50/50 cattle/hogs. We catch alot of wild cattle out here and that is more of a rush than catching big hogs. The biggest bull(horned Gert) we have bayed, roped and loaded weighed 2,653lbs at the sale barn, he was 6 yrs old and had never been in a set of pens.

in australia we have bull catchers.... (old utes with tyres fixed all around the outside.) they run the scrub bulls for a while then nudge em with the ute to make em fall over then guys jump off the ute and hold em down and tie em.

I swear you need to sit down one day and just make called "my pics" and lets see what it is in that vault of cowboy pictures you have.  Having been in that county I find it pretty amazing that you can rope and tie down a full grown cow/bull and get it out.  I feel like I have done something when I catch a 200+lbs hog but it doesn't take but a few of these pictures to bring me back to reality haha.  How far do you have to drag cows like some times to get them in the trailer?  I could see that being a whole nother set of problems.

I allways tell the young men on my crew to "think" before they rope. Leading cattle out of the brush or rough country to a trailer takes alot of time(time that you could spend roping more cattle) but there are many efficiant way to get it done. Thats half the trick to catching wild cattle, only rope them when they are in a spot that is easy to load from. If you trust your dogs you can allways get them held up in a better spot and catch them there, and spend less time leading them out. I also have have a old 4wd Dodge cummins and a half top with a 12k winch up front, that I can drive anywhere, that really helps. We catch alot of cattle at night under the full moon, they don't run as bad and honer the dogs better in the dark......It was not much of a jump from this to hog hunting....HAHAHA

One day I WILL own one......This one belongs to a man that bought it and has never hauled an animal in and is wanting a larger trailer.  Only problem is he wants what he paid for it which is a little out of my price range

thats awesome!  my dad use to do a lot of mustering in some rough country when he was young and he said they'd just throw cows and inject em with this drug that made em just follow the horse like a zombie....

I run Hogs ,Bear and catch cattle with mine . but I dont use the same dogs for cattle that I catch hogs and bear with. I will be heading to the mountains around Sept 20 to go bear hunting. I agree with silverton boar dogs on catching wild cattle ,I get just as excited when catching cattle as I do with bear and hogs.

He ain't lying either!!!! At times we've both had to convince the other that the rig won't fit or if it does, how we gonna get it out of there?
