I met Matt and Lawrence at daylight this morning in Navasota. We turned out and a short while later had a group of hogs bayed across the creek. Sent in Clifford and Brownie... and of course they caught a 50# boar shoat. We headed across the property to hunt the river bottoms. After not seeing Tweety, Crow and Kasey for a while, we stopped to listen. Could barely hear them baying down towards the river. Drove as close as we could and started heading towards them. Got pretty close and sent the catch dogs in... the hog broke before they hit. Headed back to the 4-wheeler and mule so we could track to them. They were way down river from us. Picked Clifford up along the way and he was a little over heated. Dogs bayed again and we headed in to them... the hog broke again! This is where it gets funny. On the way back out to the 4-wheelers, we lost Lawrence. The dogs bayed again directly across the river from me and Matt, but a pretty good ways in. We sat there for about 30 minutes listening to those three baying solid. I decided to drive back around and see if I could get closer before we took a swim. As soon as I killed the 4-wheeler the dogs were right in front of me... on our side of the river. I called Matt and told him to hurry up and get over here, then I hear Lawrence hollering. He was at the bay watching the whole time! As Matt and I eased in there, Lawrence hollered "turn Clifford loose!" But, I was gonna get to the bay this time cause it was getting hot. Well, the hog put Lawrence up a tree and ended up breaking before we could get there. It was a good hunt for those two young dogs, Crow and Kasey. They worked this big boar for an hour and a half, baying him up three different times. Kasey didn't fare too well, I ended up having to sew and staple her back together, but she'll be fine. Those two puppies are gonna be awesome dogs in another year if they keep going like they're going.

Yep that was a really fun hunt. We only got one pig but the young dogs got some great experience. I was definetly proud of how long they stayed with that boar. He was probably pushin 200 lbs. I was at the bay for about 15 to 20 minutes by myself. I had my dog Tex on the lead about 20 yds from this boar. Tweety and Crow were workin this boar up against the river the whole time. That boar didn't even care about those dogs. He just stood there and go after them if they got a little close. I was of course close to a nearby tree. Kasey came up from behind me and was tore up pretty bad. After awhile Mike and Matt showed up and I was tellin them TURN CLIFFORD LOOSE!!!! Well by this time, Cheyenne showed up and i thought Clifford was comin so I turned Tex lose and even Kasey started back in on the action. So I eased up closer and figured out Clifford wasnt there and that boar was about 5 yds and comin strait at me. Conviently 8)there was a great limb rite there for me to climb up in. The hog broke and ran rite under me. Pretty xciting stuff. Went back to the house and Mike played surgeon on Kasey. She got cut up pretty bad. She gonna be alright though. Thanks brotha Mike for the stitch job. It was a great hunt and we didnt even cover half the place.

Good time with good friends on a nice cool August morning, what more can you ask for. I would take those three dogs anywhere, they impressed the fire out of me this morning. Poor Kasey took a few good licks but I think that the thick brush is what got her, she has all the right ingredients to make a solid dog. Good time fellas! Matt

A friend of mine gave her to me. And he told me that both parents were BMC's. The momma is saddle back as well. Kasey has a sister that is saddle back and they look identical and Kasey just had some puppies a few months ago and i kept the one saddle back female she had. I'm hopin the pup will turn out like Kasey. We will see in a few months, the only problem is... my wife has fell in love with it... so we will see if all this talk about spoilin your cur is true or not. I am for sure gonna find out cause she teachin it to fetch and do other things.
