Well I just got done putting a good one to rest.  I have been sick all day and my dad came over to feed for me and found Crow dead in his kennel.  He was a little over three and a pretty good dog in my opinion.  I was there and watched him come into this world and had the joy of watching him progress into a nice dog.  I sure would have liked to watch him grow old but it wasn't the Lord's will.  Sure will miss the little guy, he was the only one I had that will go hunt and you could count on to produce.  These pups and young dogs are going to have to fill some big shoes....

I wish I knew, he was a very energetic dog and yesterday I loaded him up and he was moving just a little slower than normal and then he was acting like he was needing to puke but as hot as it was I didn't really think much of it he jumped in the buggy and no big deal.  I got to where I was going and he seemed a little tired and then last night when I went in the house he seemed normal.  I never hunted him and he had water available to him and was in the shade the whole time.  My dad came and fed my pups this morning and he seemed a little puny so my dad put some food in there for him and then this evening he was dead and had been several hours.  I am really kicking my self because had I not been sick I would have unloaded him last night and could have seen how he acted.  I also could have seen him this morning when I fed my pups had I not been sick.  But the way I see it it was his time, the Man upstairs knew what he was doing and though it sucks I don't begrudge anything, I have been blessed to own him and care for him while he was meant to be here and he lived a full life, I am thankful for that.

Sorry Bro.  I know he was a GOOD one.  Maybe one of those babies in your kennel will be able to fill his shoes the way you want.

Matt, I sure hated to hear that. I know how much Crow meant to you and i'm sure sorry for your loss... it's always the good ones that go. Here's a couple of pics from when he was a year old pup... one I think was the first hog he struck.

I sure do hate to hear that Matt,....don't second guess yourself though,...it's like you stated, when the Lord calls us we go, that's just the way it is. You were lucky to have had him for the time you did, sorry he had to go man.

Matt I hate to hear that.  I didn't get to hunt with Crow much, but when I did he proved to me he was a legit hog dog.  It sounds like it was his time to go.  I know it hurts but you can rest assured you gave him a good life up to the end.

RIP Crow.

Matt,

I sure hated to get that phone call yesterday. Can't think of too many dogs I have seen with his hustle, and I will never forget the time Crow showed up the big dogs in the clear cut at the county property.... Gonna really miss having him around on the hunts with us.
