I have an old cur, not sure how old but is probally 9 or 10. About the last couple of weeks he has started loosing weight real bad. He is wormed every month. I have also gave him Droncit for tape worms. He will eat every thing you give him, but still loosing weight. He don't act like he feels bad just a little slower than normal. He is pretty much retired and hangs out around the house, but we took him hunting about a month ago and he broke a couple teeth on a hog and got cut a couple medium sized cuts. I gave him a couple of rounds of Penicillan and he seemed to be fine. Then he started loosing weight. It is the wifes dog and I am catching a lot of flack about him, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes I inject my dogs but take it oraly myself. Also might hit him with another round of wormer. Had a dog a month or two go start going down hill looked at his gums and were pale so re wormed him and he was back to normal weight in a week.

Landshark, if the b12 and milk doesn't work, try taking him to the vet and run a blood test. What a lot of people don't realize is old age for most dogs can lead to diabetes. If you have someone who is around a lot, ask them to watch how often he takes a piss, and if it is really really clear, if it is, then I am willing to bet you have a case of diabetes going on. Otherwise, try wetting his food, and even adding a little wet food to it to make it softer therefore easier to chew. If he has lost a few teeth he might not be able to chew his food completely which means he isn't getting it all that he needs from it.
