Got me a new CD prospect too......

"Bucho" is what I'm calling him... 3yo male, completely unsocialized, zero training, never seen a hog, and likes to fight.... "SURE I'll try him!" Grin...  Joshua of La Historia Dogos contacted me after seeing my # on this site, told me about the dog, and asked me if I'd like to try him... As you can probably imagine, taking a 3yo male Dogo away from the only master he'd ever known was a "little interesting".... Shocked Grin

Wasn't real sure if I'd be able to get him to come around... but after a couple weeks of TLC and hard training.... he's coming around to my way of thinking!!! Cheesy  Real neat(but odd..) dog.... Not agressive(except for the first time I met him...), but just a real quiet dog... Shy, but only because of the lack of socialization.... Been dragging him through some chit and he's really starting to finally relax good.  Wanted to make sure he trusted me and had some handle before testing him on a hog... which we did today.... Smiley

Seth had a young CD he wanted to test on a rank boar Chub caught for us last week.... after a stiff right cross from the hog... "Tank" was ready to tag his team mate Bucho in for round 2 Grin

Ol' Bucho didn't need to be told twice.... for his first hog ever, he knew just what to do.... good genetics makes life so much easier!!!!

At over a hundred pounds, the big problem I see is him making my hogs look small! Grin  This dude is cool as a cucumber, he locked hard, had to be broke off... then went right back to "chill" mode when Lee led him away... NICE DOG!  Really looking forward to seeing him develope!

Noah, it is good to hear from you again, that is an awesome looking White Dog! Is he Dogo or Dogo Cross?
I know what you mean about a big dog. My AB/Dogo Max is about 130# and makes thos 150# hogs look like shoats....lol but is sure is nice to know that once they are hooked the hog aint gonna sling them around. Keep us updated on how he does and we look forward to hearing your future stories.  Paul

BigA, I'll try and scrape a few photos up for you... if I can find any that are internet friendly... Wink Grin Killed a LOT of fish lately....

Joe, went out to ol' DW's honey hole(that yall hunted) a few wks ago and met the bruise face killer been wreckin' chit.... let's just say my dogs didn't have to find him... he found us Shocked  This dude blew like a deer, then started bellerin' like a bull gator as we walked the edge of the grove... then came to us... Snappa saw him come out of the ditch and froze(she does have some brains Grin)... even with me tellin' her to catch him...  Chub came flyin' to him, he broke and rolled out, they ran him for 15 min before dragging back....  I can honestly say it was the first hog I have ever been scared of....one of those "too" smart hogs that don't have no fear.... they still ain't caught him

Paul, he's straight Dogo, don't know much about Dogo blood... but I do know his father is "Mapucho de la Piedra Grande"(Los Medanos Kennel) and his mom is "Calandria de los Medanos".  Los Cazadores have a dog from the same stud evidentally... Anybody on here hunt with those folks?

Mark told me you went and got a male and female. I am glad he is working out for you. And sounds like the price was right.  Grin They do make hogs look small when 130# of dog is hanging off them. Mine walks and leads better than any bulldog I have had and leads to a bay but is not as easy to handle after the catch as that one.

Hope he works out for ya! cool pics.

Bred Shine to a black and tan cow bred dog down south... he belongs to a friend of mine that, him and his family, been raisin' cow and hog dogs for a long, long time... in his own words..."he's the fastest dog we've ever seen".  He's a well built dog about 55#'s, EXTREMELY GRITTY... but will NOT catch a hog...  They use him by himself, with a walk in CD.  The only complaint about the dog is he makes it hard on catch dogs.... he stops hogs so fast, they aren't worn down at all, and a single CD can have his hands full if it's a bad one...  Dog's known to hamstring alot of hogs that won't bay... fine by me  Wink   Hopefully the cross works.... but you never know.

Gonna keep every pup till I see who's got the magic eye.... after that, Lee gets first pick for puttin' up with my ass all this time Grin... the rest will go to some old cattle men friends to test for all around ability.  Not selling any dogs... just want to make sure that enough of 'em get worked hard to see if they're worth a hoot Grin

I gave that female Dogo to Mark and Chris to work with... which they been slackin' on! Grin  Hopefully Mark will put some shots of her working here soon!

Christina... I've been having nightmares about sliding on my face through the briars behind this dog... hopefully enuff training will prevent it Grin

Hey now, I was just the middleman on that Dogo deal!! I asked Chris if he wanted her, he said yes and its HIS dog...to train, handle and FEED!!  LOL

I bet those Dogos doubled you and Chris's feed bill ...  Grin

Hope they work out for both you guys. I don't have any experience with Dogos and I don't want a 125 lb dog!!

Been too hot for me to hunt so my dogs are getting the summer off. Between the heat, active gators and snakes, just seemed the smart thing to do. 97 degrees with a heat index of 110 doesn't make for good dog hunting weather..........
