my dog buddy got cut up sunday at a hunt, i think i ended up counting 7 wounds in him, from neck to the back leg, most of them are just puncture wounds (pokes). i gave him pennicilan sunday and have been flushing the wounds with water and putting idodine on em, is there anything else i should do? also my wifes dad who was a hog hunter a few years ago said he used cut and heal, anyone ever tried it? his spirits seem to be good, he's walking around fine, just cant run yet without limping (the nastiest wound is on his back leg)

we flush the cuts out with betadine, then spray them with cut and heal,, works good

Same here, clean em with bedadine and cut and heal helps fight infection and keeps it clean. On bad cuts I give pen the first 3 days and continue with cut and heal daily until healed. No vet by no means, just seems to work for me. On another note if a cut will not stay closed, hydro theray is the only way.  |

On another note if a cut will not stay closed, hydro theray is the only way. Yes sir!  Also be careful on puncture wounds. The cut and heal will heal the outside quickly and you'll end up with a big fluid filled area because it can't drain. |

My dog cut up pretty good on her back and on her under side. almost got the gut. but the one on her back was probably bout 4 inches we stapled it and the other we sowed up. well the next day the staples came out and the sowing came out a day later both cuts looked bad. It has now been 2 wks and i have been hydro therapying both of them 2 or 3 times a day. they have healed up great and she is ready to go. keep the flies off for sure, i used cattle tags, put one on her neck and rubbed one around the cuts.

oh he's been staying in the house all the time lol, he's housebroken anyway, and the only time he goes out now is to excersise some for a few minutes and do his business. every wound is just about healed except the two nasiest on his back leg, but they are even lookin better. washing em out is the best way i think.
gonna put him in a pen this weekend maybe if those two are closed up enough and see if he can run and catch, and im kinda curious to see if it helps his catching style getting cut up like that, i think a lot of times he has been fighting them head-on and i want him to catch from the side, which i have seen him do, just wanna see it on a more regular basis.

another good thing for flies is SWAT. Just a jell you can rub around a cut. Furazol spray (not sure how to spell it is really good for healin cuts, it has antibiotics in it. one of the best i think.
had a 7 mo. old mule try to jump a fence cut him wide open to the muscle (mules have about 1 in thick skin) and i just did some hydro then sprayed with furazol then put SWAT on it. Healed up just fine no infections, flies, nothin.
