All of my hunting buddies were busy this morning so I went to the ranch with a couple of guys that dont have dogs.  I've just about retired Hollywood but decided to carry him today for the first time in a few motnhs since it was cool.  Dropped him and Brittany out and they were nearly a mile by the time I got on the 4 wheeler headed toward them.  Drove a little bit and stopped, they were bayed.  Turned June and D-man loose to them and I guess Hollywood was feeling good because he had an ear when i got there. Got the hog tied and to the trailer, put hollywood in the truck due to a bad cut to the throat, then hit a small corn patch.  Caught a small one, then as usual, the hogs broke and ran about a mile.  On the way there I decided to try and cross a swampy ditch that holds water year round. bad idea. Took nearly two hours to get out  Undecided   Got the dogs back and called it a morning.

Caught quite a few boarhogs over the yrs with one nut... always wondered if they were born that way or was a early injury healed over...

How old is Hollywood now and why you talkin' retirement?  Did he get hurt?   My old friend Donny Woods has been talking about retiring his lead male, Joker, for yrs... Grin   I think that dog is over 12 now, and he's still training pups.... be it baying one up, or sealing the deal(Joker's the only catch dog he uses) Shocked

Good hunt, sounds like ol' HW was glad to be out! Grin

Thanks for the invite paul, but I had to put staples in 4 out of the 5 dogs I took this morning, and i usually dont staple dogs up.  So Im out for a few days.

Noah, he's 4 years and 3 mos old.  But in that 4 years he's been hunted real hard, had his nuts cut out twice, collapsed his lungs once, has a chest like a road map, and takes longer to get healthy after a bad one now days.  I'll still hunt him, but not hard. He doesnt have anything left to prove to me.  I'll just keep him around for a puppy trainer and stud for people I know and myself when I need some good young dogs.  As far as Talli goes, my wife could have the baby any day, so I may wait til she has it and also some cooler weather!  Cool
