Well actually she is probably the best hog dog I'll ever have. Yes, she is plenty gritty for me. She's no doubt the smartest dog I've ever seen,....and I've had a Lab and lots of other kinds over the years, but I'll swear that this dog can reason things out. She's a stem-winder in the woods,....she's fast and if there's a hog around, she'll find it. She can 'read' a hog the best of any dog I've ever hunted with,....if she thinks she can handle it she will catch, if the hog is mean and she's by herself or with other dogs that won't catch much, then she'll stand back and bay. She will always catch if the other dogs do....they've caught some pretty rangy, old boar hogs in the last couple of years. Bad thing is,.....the guy I got her from doesn't remember the name of the older guy he bought her and 3 littermates from, and the other 3 all are gone. He can even remember where the guy was from in GA.....wish I had a few more just like her. I had never thought of that cross either, but apparently it works.

Good luck....you never know what might come of a cross like that, could be a good one. My dog catches hell from the hogs her being almost all white and every dog that she runs with is dark brindled in color. I've watched hogs chase her out repeatedly since she stands out like a sore thumb. I'm really glad that I got her,....the guy I got her from would never have traded her, but she yips a little when a hog breaks or if she sees a hog when they jump it. It doesn't bother me since I hunt mostly with my buddies from TN that have Plotts that are open on track.

I have to say... she is a pretty one. I'm still working on her, still in training, she's got a long way to go but is the most gritty dog I have in the bay pen.

Well I'll show a picture of my dog...This is dog is being hunted by my brother in law, cuz I am deployed to Iraq right now...Pokey is was only 8 months old when he found his first hog, he was a self starter, my brother in law ran him by himself when he started him and he just naturally knew what to do...I have another dog that is a 1/2 YBMC and 1/2 Catahoula that is being hunted for me in the Navasota area by the guy I bought the dog from, He did me a real good favor by taking the pup back and starting him while I'm deployed so he didn't sit on the chain and waste for a year.  Theres still good people out there.

Im pretty partial to brindle dogs myself, that Pokey dog has a light brindle to him that I'm hoping might darken up alil bit and this is the sire to him...He got stole about two weeks after he was bred to the gyp...He was all cowdog with a heckuva handle on him.
