Jughead007's barr that he skint the skull out of got me thinking, I tried to do that one morning on just a bottom jaw...got it completely skint out but is there an easy way or a tendon that needs to be cut inorder to ge tthe bottom jaw to come loose?  We wound up having to cut the curved portion off cause I destroyed it with a hammer  Angry

Cut what you can then boil it in a big pot of water, it will all fall apart, JMI

Boil it or let the ants work on it. Both will work good.

Thanks yall, we usually put it in an ant bed and then let it bake in the sun/bleach to get the meat and stink off of it.

I was curious on how to take the bottom jaw only out in the field with out skinning the entire head out to take home.  The husband seen it some where (maybe bloom brothers) where they had a method for knocking the bottom jaw out.

Thanks,, and no I didn't finish em with anything.... Once I get all the meat off I put some bleaching agent that u get from a beauty supplies store... Then put about 4 coats on it over a weeks time in the sun..... They actually look a lot whiter than that in person... I think it's the flash on the camera that made em that off color

I do all skulls this way.

Skin and get as much meat off as possible. That usually means the cheeks and tongue and eye balls.

You need a bucket or tub big enough to put the skull in and completely cover with water. Add about a cup of clothes detergent, put the lid on and put it where dogs and critters cant get to it in the sun.

In about 2-3 weeks, open and drain off water( watch for teeth pouring out. It really wont smell very bad. Use a s much pressure as you have with a hose to wash off the scum and such. May or may not need to soak in soap a few days more, but if it is clean, put it back in tub cover with water and add a cup of bleach. Put the lid on and let it cook in the sun for about 3-4 days. Take it out, rinse under pressure well and let dry.

Put the teeth back in and you are good to go. I do deer skulls this way also for European mounts. Just no lid.

Same here. Boil about 3 hours but I pour a big bottle of original Dawn dish soap in the water, the blue color soap. Tried other flavors but the original cuts grease the best. Then 2 coats of beauty bleach paste, glue some teeth in and call it good.
