Got some pics of AJ on cattle this week...He is a real solid dog on cattle, and is making a hand on hogs as well.

Silverton,

Great Pics!......How does it work when you hog hunt with him on a place that has cattle?  Does that effect him any?

I've hunted cattle and hogs with him for years, and it rarely becomes a problem.
He has all his dogs on a "get out" command, and when he uses it, they do it! Wink
In fact, sometimes they go to the truck and pout. Grin
We've hunted cattle for 10 or 12 hours a day and hogs that night, with the same dogs.
They figure out which one they need to be hunting in a matter of minutes.

Once, at a ranch in Crosby county, we gathered cattle from sun up to sun down, then when it got dark we started hunting hogs with the very same dogs.
As we rounded the bend, there in the road stood about 30 head of cattle, the dogs went right through them, hardly looking at them.
They know with very little direction what they are to be hunting.

Heck, when you use them every single day for one or the other, they get good at it. Smiley

He's the only person I've ever seen who has dogs that cast out in the direction his horse is facing.
They watch that horse as guidance as to which way he wants them to go hunt.
If they can see his horse from any distance, they follow his horses direction, no matter how many are riding with him, they go in the direction HIS horse is facing.

we've got the grittiest little blue cattle dog pups. their only about three months old and thismorning they were heeling this huge angus cow. right at her heals weaving through her legs. their fearless little buggers.
