Look at it like this if one or two guys got you backed into a corner your prolly gunna try to hold you own but if 4 or 5 got you backed in that same corner you prolly gunna be lookin for a way out.....but if they all bail to you n get a holt you are well a wooped ass...

 four or 5 gritty dogs work good in the winter when the weeds are down. South Texas is around late Dec. to late March. At nighttime it seems like a full moon also works in the dogs favor. Once the weeds are thick and the weather is hot then 1 or 2 loose baying dogs work well with a walk in catch dog.

I have never seen a herd of hogs bayed by gritty dogs but have seen it with loose baying dogs.

I ALSO HAVE MADE THIS OBSERVATION... It seems that some bay dogs have a mindset to push the hog but there are other gritty cur dogs out there that have the desire to want to stop the hog and then bay tight and not put their mouth on the hog unless it breaks bay.

Dogs are at a big disadvantage in the summer because when the hog breaks bay it heads for the thickest jungle and it will keep running in the thick underbrush and the dogs can't keep up. If enough gritty dogs catch up the hog might or might not get caught.

im running very rough dogs bark twice and catch we ben running 200 yrds and shutting down. these dogs dont bite and let go they catch but we caught 2 boars and iv got 3 dogs cut up. but we caught hogs.
