My puppy Wyatt got tangled in some barbed wire earlier and got poked through the front of his front leg right in a freaking vein! Tiny little poke but squirting blood pretty good. I put pressure on it for about ten minutes and it was stopped then a few minutes later it opened up again. Ive had it stopped for about thirty minutes now.

How long do I need to be on guard for it opening up?
Should I keep it wrapped or let it breathe?

He hadn't even been on a proper hunt and already getting some serious pokes  Undecided

Due to the location of the poke I don't think wrapping it would do much before the pup would rip it off. I would keep steady pressure on and above the cut with some toilet tissue and keep an eye on their gums and at the first sign of trouble you may have to head to a professional. Do you have any blood coagulant?

No Im at the in laws house in my work truck and don't have my cut-kit but I short chained him to the porch and he hasn't bled in maybe an hour,  also his gums are good and I can feel his pulse very well downstream from the poke so he's still got circulation.  That was my biggest fear, that it had severed and would kill his foot. I know it sounds silly but please pray for this pup, because he is BUCK-WILD.

Just keep an eye on it and good luck! If the vein is still visible and hasn't collapsed I think you're looking good as far as circulation goes.
