If any one is going to be in North Texas area first weekend of October, there is a contest (live hogs only) in Cottondale. Should be fun, spoke with the feller running it and said if he gets over 10 teams he is paying 2 places. Best part is the weigh in is at a buying station. From what I understand it will be a 3-4 person team, winner will be total weight (no stringers), and a heavy hog jackpot as well. Dogs only, no trapped hogs (skinned noses), winners will be subject to poly. Buyer will purchase all hogs as well. Runs from Oct.3-5. Come out and play if ya can, should be a great hunt. For more info you can contact Monty 940-210-1762

Those polygraphs are the deal, we've been using them in spearfishing tourni's and they work great! I believe the top 5 should be mandated to pass one.... cut down on the crap.

Another question came up that Monty wanted me to post on here. Each team may have an extra person for filming, landowner, etc.. But they must not participate in the hunt or have any dogs. It will be on the poly as well..

Well we had fun trying, but it just wasnt our weekend or anyone else who hunted the tourney. After two days of hard hunting we ended up with just 3 hogs. Got beat out of first by another team who brought in six, but we did manage to get the heavy hog jack pot with a 228 lb boar. All in all it was a good tourney with a polygraph for the winners. Everyone played by the rules and had fun as well. Already kickingaround another one, hope we get more entries on the next hunt.

I heard something about a two dog tourney?I was setting back waiting to see how this last one panned out. With the hope of maybe getting in the next one.But If the two dog thing is next,I am gonna have to pass on it too.I would like to see a higher entry fee,and more teams also.Just my .02

If you show up on the next one that would add to the entries Not sure on the entry fee, but it will be a 2 dog and 2 catch dog. Should be fun, just 24 hrs at that. As far as entry fees go, I am just a poor boy and dont mind the $200 entries

What happens when your two dogs get hammered?Or maybe one dog gets into a porky? Why would you put a limit on the number of dogs?Higher entry fee means more money paid out to winners. With fuel the way it is,more money paid out would sure make it better.Might bring in some more teams.Everyones a poor boy nowadays with the fuel prices.

seems to me the lower the entry fee the easier it is to be raised, and possibly more entries which means bigger pot. guess its a different way to the same means.

If your dogs get hammered then you pull a new dog that's easy enough

Yall are exactly right, if your dog gets out of commission then you can replace him. As long as there is only four dogs hunting. It would be nice to win a little more, but I am afraid it would scare too many people off(including myself) if the entries were much higher. Besides it is nice to win, but we do it for fun all the time and sell what we catch.

I was under the impression that two dogs, and thats it.One gets hurt, you hunt with the dog you got left.If they are gonna let ya replace dogs why even say its a two dog deal?I still dont understand the point of limiting the number of dogs anyway.Maybe to try and not get the hogs tore up that bad?I dont know what the reason would be.I guess ya cant please everyone.Yall have good luck and catch a load of em.

He is having a "series" of hunts so to speak. Just changing stuff up on each one, it will be interesting to see how everyone does with just 2 bay/2 catch or 3 bay/1 catch dog combo. The next tourney after this one will pay out for heavy hog only. I like the change ups, gives others more chances and different outcomes as well. Hope we get more this next hunt

So i dont totally understand the rules on this next tourny. Is it 4 dogs on the ground only with rotating dogs allowed? Or is it only 4 dogs total?

The way I understand it is 4 dogs only. Doesnt matter if it 3 cur and 1 bulldog or 2 curs and 2 bulldogs. The only time you can replace one is if one gets cut and cannot hunt.
