well i used to wait tables and all the oldtimers told me as long as I had goats on my place, I would never have rattlesnakes..so far that holds true and I been in this place in the country for the last 4yrs..also, my neighbors 2 houses down used to have goats and they dont anymore and now they have rattlers. I dont know, but Im sticking with my goats until it is proven otherwise..so if anyone wants a goat or two contact me and I may have some for sale..thanks

DUDE...Aren't goats the same thing as cabras or cabritos. I think that I would rather deal with 6 ft. rattlers than CHUPACABRAS....

Back in 2001, one of the ranches I day worked on had lots of rattlebugs. Kill several every day we worked. In 2004 we started seeing a decline in rattlebugs, that's when the pigs moved in on it. Easier to deal with the pigs than snakes. Don't think the land owner agrees. I sure stepped up to help with the pig population. don't have any solid proof that the pigs are eating the snakes, but this is the second ranch I've seen this happen on. It may or may not I'm sure there are lots of places with both.

Dudet if I had problem with them snakes I would gladly put goats. There ain't no such thing as that chupa-whatever. It only lives in my stupid jokes. I know I had some land that I thought about using goats to clear all the brush because a dozer might take a tree out. So goats have use so show some love. The pigs have that thick skin that may just be snake proof. I have heard that but never seen it. I have seen a hawk kill a rattler and it was really cool! I would like to see a king snake eat one too. I just wanted to type "Dudet"

I would like to see a king snake eat one too. I just wanted to type "Dudet" Well when I was a kid and lived on a farm our hogs would catch the chickens in the pig pen and eat them. I saw them kill 2 water moccasins in the summer and eat them. These snakes were probably looking for water and a mud hole. The hogs may have been missing protein in their diet on account we mainly fed corn that we raised ourselves. I saw a documentary on Discovery and the wild hogs passed right by the rattlers and they ignored them. I used to hunt hogs along the coast in the salt grass and there were a ton of hogs but just as many large rattlers.

I heard the same thing about goats and snakes. dont know if it's the goat pee the snakes dont like or if the goats kill em somehow. When I had goats, i didnt have rattlesnakes, but I dont have any anyway!!! But I do have a bunch of hawks and foxes,, and a few pigs roaming the woods. Now I didnt notice any difference in the rat snake population whether i had goats or not,, wonder if its just rattlers that dont like goats

I was sitting in stands off season to watch deer movement. I was watching a doe with her fawn. Then the doe started dancing around. She went up on her hind legs went forward and slammed her front feet down and bounced back. Lifted up and did it all over again. It was fast and I had no idea what she was doing. At first I thought she was thumping to make me move. But she was looking at the ground not me. So after she left I went down and found a rattler all messed up and clearly dead. I wounder if goats do the same thing?

Thank the Lord we dont have many rattlers around here, but cotton mouths we have plenty! It was a good year of not having to kill too many. However, when dove season started there was and still is very little water so the snakes were all hanging out around the water holes and there is nothing like cutin one in half with some 6 shot from a 12 gauge. I get a smile on my face just thinking about it. Joey Young
