I am not gonna measure anymore untill they are bigger than his.
I think we have all killed hogs that would outscore him but mine were before the WWT even existed. If yall get a good one you ought to have it scored. Longshot

You and I both killed a boar the same week that would have out scored him, had there been someone to score them.

Nice hog and cutters for sure. Being that it is a High fence, what is its diet that helps them get tusks like that? Apparently corn, salt blocks, grass, and grubs isnt enough for the hogs around here to get any significant teeth at that size. However, I do know that genetics has something to do with it, but diet is certainly an important factor.

Joey,
Your question about the tusk length is something that I have wondered for a while. There is just something about the area James hunts that produces big teeth. High fence or not, they grow the cutters out there.
I have hunted an area north of Flatonia that produces a lot of tooth as well. Maybe it is genetics.

i would say genetics of coarse , but probably the mineral in the soil is the main factor.

Its something for sure down there in the soil. The whitetails down that way have huge horns and little bodies. We have great big deer with little horns, or at least they look small on them. Now each year we see more and more bruiser bucks because of deer management programs and introducing better genetics into the herds.
Hogs have to be about the same on some levels. That hog there is relatively small for those size cutters. I catch 200+lb boars with 1 inch cutters all the time and in different areas too. I have been putting out mineral blocks to hopefully help out.

A good many of the boars I catch around here also have the teeth broken off. Perhaps they're a little more friendly to one another and don't fight as much out there too!
