I've always heard the same thing.

I don't guess it would hurt them because city water is chlorinated.

Alright.. I didn't think of that.. Has anyone ever personally done it and how much do you think you should use?

Yes I've tried it, and no it won't hurt your dogs.  It will however keep the water buckets much cleaner, and keep all that wretched green scum from growing quite so well on the sides of your buckets.  I gotta add.... don't put bleach in the water buckets every stinkin' time you fill them up though.  It doesn't have to be used everyday.

I use a capfull now and then and have never had any problems. I wouldnt personaly use it more than every three or four weeks. About 50/50 water and bleach with a rag will get that green stuff out good.

We add a capful(about a tblspoon) to all scrubbed clean, full water tubs.
Our tubs are about 20 gal.
Seems to help keep the green scum out.

if you store water for long periods of time in clear jugs  (1 gallon)  you add a table spoon of bleach to them and they will keep for years ! so if you dont go overboard you could add it every time you clean out there dishes !

A little splash of bleach in the water bowl works well. I've done it for a long time.
