Haven't hunted the dogs since April, due to my back going out, and deer season, but now that its over we decided to make a little hunt to tune up the dogs.   We started at day break, and roded the dogs for about 1 1/2 hours with no luck, terrain is steep where I hunt so we kept rotating dogs, one out at a time,

we tried walking down some canyons in to some brush draws, but no sign at all.  decided to pick up and move to a different area.  no sooner do we get there we see a small sounder of hogs, about 30 strong mostly little ones.  the hogs see us and high tail it.  We dump the box and it's a short chase only a couple barks then lots of squealing.

unfortunately the dogs strung out a small hog and it was dead by the time we got there.  great for the bbq though.  Over all I'm glad the dogs got exercise and worked as a team.

My nephew got to go, I think this is his second or third hog hunt.  He was happier than a pig in poop.  Made me laugh when my brother in law said that my nephew was standing at his bed side at 12:48 am  saying "dad I'm dressed and ready to go"  the plan wasn't to leave until 430 am

I bet it was nice to get back into the woods.  Looks like your dogs haven't forgot a thing.

Beautiful Country!  Glad that you are feeling well enough to hunt and enjoy that landscape.

Flatbroke I'm glad you are back. Listening to hog hunting stories is fun but not near as much fun as telling one.Tell Joel I hate he had to work so hard when he came thats how us texas boys do work hard and play harder. Awsome country Cacique made the Championships Mike and Alice went to San Fran to watch.I leave for my bear hunt on Nov 10.
