This hunt was a weird one. Yes, my Dogo did catch but I was a bit dissapointed, it was not what I would call "solid" and he left me with some doubts. I will explain later. Then, my brothers catch dog was acting strange, I think all the air condition and extra food with no exercise really got to him he has never let us down before but this time I could tell he was not performing as usual, of course everytime he caught he stayed caught until we pulled him off, that was not the case with Achilles though  Huh?. We took Willie, Cody, Montero, Paloma and young dogs were Sancho, Mocha, and Chameleon(first time out) We took a lot of dogs because some of them havent been out in a while and we wanted to give them a chance to hunt. My brother brought his dog Bo and I brought Achilles, it would be the first time for him to catch anything with me. We started off a little late about 9am and not even 15 minutes in (we didnt get to the real woods) we heard the dogs open up and let the catch dogs loose, it was a nice little boar my nephew got to stick it and it was a done deal. Was probably about 20 yards from the fence and the clearing. My brother decided it was best to get the hog back to the truck and into a cooler so we could keep hunting and not worry about the meat going bad. Him and my nephew left on the atv and me and my dad kept hunting. We got up to where the creek/river curved into and started parallel to the pasture. we were on the clear side of the creek and dogs were down getting a drink. I had Achilles on the lead and he started to lift his nose up and get whiny, then I hear Cody open up not even 10 yards from us he had struck a hog bedded under some brush. The hog came out and went right through the dogs, at that point Achilles was going crazy so I let him go but him nor the other dogs could catch up to him when the hog hit the water. The chase was on, I thought he was going to stay and fight the dogs, He was big and looked MEAN! So me and dad start running because we hear the dogs stop him a couple times but no solid bay. Finally we hear a bay and me and my dad start hauling butt towards them. I was nervous that the dogs would be caught on him for a long time because he was a big one. We ran about half a mile crossed the creek and heard the squeal. When we got in we realized that it was a smaller boar the bigger one had dumped the dogs on and he got away! So I get some pics and stick it, we drug it to the creek and waited for my brother who took an HOUR to get to us  He finally met up with us, We left the hog in the water so the flies wouldnt get em and kept hunting. We kept walking on the clear side of the creek and the dogs stayed on the wooded side hunting. The dogs started getting piggy and we hear Willie open up, then silence, we hear him and a couple of dogs open up a few more times but no bay. Then I looked further down the creek and saw a nice sized boar come down and hide under a fallen tree. He stayed put there listening for dogs and didnt see us, my brother had brought his pistol for the first time and tried to get a shot but the hog saw us and went back up and into the brush. The dogs found him again and had a solid bay and then I heard three dogs yelp and we start heading that way, finally we hear the hog squeal. We had to go through the THICKEST STUFF I have ever had to go through. I got tore up in that stuff. We get in and my brother legs it and dad sticks it while I get some action shots. We start looking at all the dogs and see the damage this little boar did. He had cut 4 dogs! If his cutters would have been any longer we would have lost a couple of dogs that day. Willie got a good poke in his shoulder, Cody almost got gutted... it cut his skin right next to his yanker about 3 inches, Mocha got her Lovegina cut  Shocked and Paloma got a clean 5 inch cut going up her back leg  Shocked We could not believe it. Just goes to show what the brush, and a mean little boar that wants to fight can do. I also blame it on the fact that there were just to many dogs to begin with. We called it a day with three nice little boars caught, they werent anything to brag about but they worked the dogs good. It was about noon when we finished. We hadnt even hunted much of the property yet.

First boar Nathan got to stick

Second little boar me and my dad caught

Dogs taking a break, you can see the creek/river and the woods on the other side.

The one that cut the dogs

This is the stuff we had to get through

Montero

Sancho

Size clearly doesnt matter

Last two hogs of saturday

Sunday we started really early, and had to hunt more than saturday. We had seen a group of hogs on a hill going down towards the woods so we walked and started on one side of the woods headed in there direction. We hunted for about 30 minutes before the dogs started to get piggy. This is where we were very happy because we were missing one dog, all the other dogs were in sight and we hear a dog open up, but we could not recognize what dog it was, I let go of Achilles and started running because by now the other dogs were there and had a good bay. Lets just say he is SLOW! I almost got to the bay before him  Shocked He doesnt do well with the brush lol Anyway Achilles caught it but didnt make the hog squeal  Huh? When Bo got in there thats when we heard him squeal, me and my dad got in and got it stuck, it was another boar but bigger than the ones from saturday. He was also in some pretty thick stuff, my dad left to find the clearing and see how far it was so we could drag it out. I did not want my dad to carry or drag anything so me and my brother drug it out of the woods about 100 yards to the clearing. We figured who struck the hog and it was the pup Chameleon!  Afro It was his first weekend hunting and we know it was him because he was the only one missing and we did not recognize his bark. He made us real proud. Him and Mocha are from the SophiexMontero breeding, we lost Sophie in May and I think its safe to say that all her pups are going to make the team. There is still one female that hasnt been on a hunt yet but I know she will do good. Mocha has been on 4 or 5 hunts and she is a little monster in the woods. So, my brother and nephew rode the atv back to the truck and me and my dad walked the mile back  Lips Sealed We need another WHEELER!!! My brother is a lazy a$$ making his 73 year old dad and sister walk back to the truck  Evil

Brother Chino and sundays boar

This was saturdays first hogs cutters. He was a pretty chocolate color too.

No sir, my brother really wanted me to get some pics lol just wait for the stories  Wink And yes my BMC goes for the stomache when the hog is caught! Really ticks me off! Im afraid if he keeps doing that he will get himself killed! But I think he only does that when catch dogs have em caught, but still!

Looking good!! That pink figure nail is pretty too I got one that will match it long story!!

Lets hear it!! I very seldom get my nails done and especially not before a weekend of hunting, but I went with my sister and saw this color and got them done lol I cracked one on sunday carrying a cooler though  Embarrassed

Great pics, love the dogs, Really like the dog in pic #9 cat cross?

His sire was a 1/4 Cat 3/4 BMC and Dam was pure Cat. He is purrty but what counts is that he hunts his butt off! he is 17 months old.

Im on a crappy laptop and stries are long, but on the third hog we caught 4 dogs got cut pretty bad but not severe and his cutters didnt make an inch, thats why I got a pic of them  and my finger nail because I could not believe how he cut these dogs up. He put up a fight in that brush. But if his cutters would have been any bigger im afraid we would have lost a couple dogs!  Shocked
