Had a guided hunt tonight out at the ranch, some big time high rollers wanted to catch a hog.  I called Ricky and asked him to help me out since I've got a couple on the DL right now.  I brought Hollywood and Brittany, He brought Hailey and Aerial, and catch dogs.  Turned out and rode a little bit, stopped the gator and waited. Hollywood opened up about 475 yards out.  Got to him, turned catch dogs loose and the hog broke, and ran right by us.  Hog had a good head start on the dogs after swimming a big ditch.  Now this was one of those fast running hogs, and I guess they "shut him down" because they had him stopped in the middle of a cattle pasture about a mile away.  Also, he was dog smart.  He only had one nut and his ears were all chewed up but healed over.  So, ya'll are welcome for us taking this hog out of the gene pool   Grin  Sorry, I cant help myself sometimes.  Seriously though, it turned out to be a great hunt, the guys had a blast, and I think Ive finally caught one worth mounting.

Good hunt that is a nice hog with great teeth.  I agree with you that boar with his background didn't just suddenly decide to stop and fight in the middle of an open field one or more of the dogs stopped him.  Great story.

Really nice hog,One of the meanest looking hog's I have seen posted in a while.I bet he must have tripped on a stob or some undergrowth out in that field and couldn't get up to run before the dogs got there Grin

Shocked That is a hog, i am glad after all these years you FINALLY get to catch one like i do one a daily basis Grin.

Do you think the teeth growth had something to do because of the one nut? Those are some HUGE tetfess.. Guess hollywood seen them pearls sticking out and didnt want to try him Grin
