Hunted out at the ranch last night. Had a big group with Ricky, Barry, Shane, Cole, and myself.  Turned out and rode a little ways and got on a big bunch of hogs, long story short, the hogs really ran last night but we caught two and managed to get another sow tagged.  Good to meet Cole and Shane on this hunt.

Well, I've tagged three. #1 is a big spotted sow and is staying in the same area everyday for the most part.  It looks like she travels about a mile every night onto the ranch to feed, then back onto the hills in the day to bed.  #2, a week after we tagged her I was getting a double beep, which is the mortality signal, it is transmitted if the tag stays still for 24 hours.  This was the hog we recaught 1.3 mi from where we released her.  I assumed she was dead due to stress levels.  Tracked down the tag and it led me to a couple of hog wallows in a NASTY clear cut.  I was glad to find there wasn't a dead hog in one of them.  After an hour of digging in the mud we found the tag.  This was the one I put in the hog the other night.

As I pulled out of the ranch driveway yesterday evening I looked down the road and saw a hog crossing the road.  I didnt think much of it, but when I got close she bolted out in front of the truck and I snapped a pic and realized I'd seen her before!  It was the same hog we tagged thursday night, only about 1.5 miles from where we released her and about 2.5 miles from where the dogs found her.  Whatre the odds?!?

Well, when we released her, we loaded up and went to another area. As I said it was 1.3 miles away on the garmin. Couldnt have taken longer than 7-8 minutes for us to get over there and turn out again. Dogs were gone probably 2 minutes and bayed.  Caught her again, but tag was still in. Only thing I can figure is that the dogs may have worked it loose when they re-caught her and she shook it out after she wallowed   Huh?  Ohwell, its still in this hog for now  Grin
