my buddy steven came out tonight with his pup bandit, which is the brother to my brindle pup cefus. i caught and hobbled a shoat hooked a leash on it and headed for tha woods. made a few circles around some trees and tied him beside a thicket. got tha two pups and showed em another pig in my pen. cefus went nuts bayin and runnin around pen, bandit didnt show much intrest so i decided to let my yellow dog get in on it to so maybe 2 dogs bayin would help show bandit what was goin on. i let em bay for a few seconds then turned tha pig out. while steven was holdin tha dogs, let him geta good 4 or 5 min start then turned em loose. gunner took off, shaggin thru tha woods. bout 10 min later he opened up. as were goin to him, i notice that tha pig i tied was gone but rope layin there. i only tied his back feet, and he was gone. well when we got to gunner it was tha pig with back feet tied that he has found.cefus rolls in there bayin like crazy. bandit still not payin much attention. cefus and gunner were takin turns spinnin this pig around and doin a fine job of it when all tha sudden bandit comes in and bays lhis butt off, cathin a little , id back him off and bay some more. gunner caught him, and i backed him off cut tha hobble and tha race was on . straight to tha pool, it was pretty cool watchin these 3 pups work, they started gettin ruff so i caught tha pig leashed tha pups and let him go again. this time i let him stay gone 15 mins or so, and turned him loose. gunner finally started usin his nose a little tonight. im pleased but still have so many questions about why its takin him so long for that "switch" to turn on. i may be wrong, but 14 mths old, i feel like he shud be further along, hunting wise anyway. the bay is fine, but shudnt he be trackin and trailing a little more at 14 mths old?? or is there really a 2 yr mark on yellow dogs. what yall think>

I have a buddy that had a bayin' lil dude at 5-8 months he had it down. now all of a sudden he acts like he don't know what to do. I've also had a dog that was real timid didn't want much to do with anything. would bay a pig in the pen and tie him back and he acted like he wanted some so one day I cut him loose to bay on the outside of the pen with 2 dogs in the pen and he didn't do anything. Tied him back and he went back to barkin'. finally one day in the woulds on a set up hunt it just clicked and he was all about it.

My buddies main dog is the best dog I have ever hunted behind didn't really turn it on until about 2 yrs old. I can't count the number of people that told him to cull that POS but he liked him and kept giving him the chance. The main deal is he kept improving a little each hunt instead of being at a standstill. You pay for the feed so its your decision but if he is still improving I would keep giving him the chance.

There is no "mark" on any dog, they are a little different....
