Hey guys, Britt Garcia here, is there anyone within 2 or 3 hours of the Lufkin TX area breeding and hunting Scott/Standard type american bulldogs. I am looking for a stud that is a serious catch dog. I chose Alan Scotts Ranger/Gypsy offsprings for my last out cross, but i've done all I can do with them. I need some new blood, but im very particular about what I bring into my line. No offense to anyone who is using these blood lines, but im not interested in any Hybrids, Johnson, or Watch Dog bred dogs. If they are working for you, thats great, its my my personal preference not to use them because of experiences ive had over the years. I would like to find dogs in my area, but if your else where and you think you have the best AB catch dog, id like to here from you too. If you have what im looking for or know someone who does, your comments or personal messages will be much appreciated. I have access to several CD studs that are proven from my breeding if anyone else is looking for an out cross. Thank you for your time.

Watchdog/ suregrip bred dog has been my best AB catchdog in the last 11 years. Not as agile as I would like him to be. Johnson x OSW had the most heart but couldn't breath obviously. Had some old Sand Valley stuff that really turned me off of pure ABs all together. Hog crazy, but one cut and quit. Didn't ever go again. Had a lot of luck with hybrids, but most couldn't handle heat as well as my pits obviously, but my AB now is handling heat well for big dog and gets it done. Call John Bloodworth over in your area. According to him all other ABs are trash except his, but none of his dogs have beaten my hybrids in show, pp work, irondog, or catch comps in the last 10 years. There are some fellas on here that have nice ABs but I haven't hunted with them and they live in in south Texas. Scott Pugh is one of them

Hey Indian Valley,....Alan Scott is one of my closest friends, he lives just a few minutes from me, we hunt together a good bit. He might know of someone in your area that he has sold a dog to or that owns some of his dogs. I can give you his phone number if you'd like to talk with him about it....just let me know.

Doug Loverne in Poetry, TX has a real nice AB, long legged, not undershot, high drive, athletic performance AB. The dog's name is Whiskey and he is by Dorsey's Major Pain x Banshee. I believe Banshee is the Litchardt stuff sired by Felony. Dog weighs 82 lbs. in lean working shape and he's real tight and muscular. He is a catching machine, a real BEAST. Doug says he can stand flat footed and jump in the back of a pick-up truck with the tailgate closed. He is a real smart dog and I believe he has a Schutzhund title also. Doug is a hoghunter and knows bulldogs. Lives close to Greenville, Quinlan, Kaufmann area. Message me and I will see if he's intersted in studding him out. I am breeding my Scott female to him as soon as she comes in heat.

That's good to see. I'm gonna give old Whiskey a try. My Scott bitch is still young, but showed her her first hog when she was 8 months old and she went right to it like a freight train and caught the ear. Had to have a break stick to get her off. I'm just waiting to get a few more hogs under her belt and let her come in heat. I know Doug well and he is a good dude.

Thanks for the all the info so far guys. Alot of these females that I need a stud for are dogs that I have placed out with close friends with the agreement that I pick the stud when they are ready for pups. My goal is to be able to show them a handful of dogs that I approve of and let them pick what dog they like. So, keep the comments and contacts coming, variety is a good thing.

In response to all the comments so far: JHY, glad to hear the WD/SG cross has worked for you. I havnt been so lucky, spent 2 yrs breeding to WD line and I gave up on it. It was convenient because there is more of that blood in my area that anything else. I was getting some functional catchdogs but there temperment was off. I know alot of people people that hunt and raise that line and are 100% content, just didnt work for me. I would contact whats his name but he might not want to mix with any of my trash LOL. Congrats on your success at those AB events. I entered one AB catch comp around Huntsville years ago and took a 2nd place out of 10 behind a " jam up titled dog" from Pensylvania that caught on the back leg LOL, go figure. Thanks for the info and God Bless. Firemedic, thanks for you input, I am also a close friend of Alans, we talk on the phone pretty regular. Ive already followed up on the leads ive got from Alan. He doesnt have alot in Texas outside of what I already have. Ive gotten 7 or 8 Ranger/Gypsy bred pups from him over the years, but thanks for the info, I really appreciate it. Bryan, thats a nice lookin male, he looks like my type of dog and he would be a 100% out cross. Personaly...I don't care for the way my dogs is if that is what you are refering to...his what I call "monkey tail" but it don't stop me from liking him any less nor does it affect his performance....I may have to put him down tho cause he will not win any confirmation shows with it. According to NKC...it IS a fault but does not specify as a major fault.... Tail:
Strong at the root tapering to the hocks, in a relaxed position, the tail can be carried back when excited. A "pump handle" tail is preferred but any tail carried from upright, when the dog is excited, to relaxed between the hocks is acceptable. The tail should not end in a complete circle.
Faults: Tail curled over the back; corkscrew tail, kinked or crooked tail.

whats up big nasty, I dont have the papers since these are dogs I have placed out, if i can get any of my buds to fax me a copy, i'll be happy to post them, just in case I cant, heres a quick run down on their peds, all of them will be either 1/2 or 5/8 ths Ranger/Gypsy, this pedigree is easy to find on the net, everything else is my original breeding which few people know about, they are mostly Hines bred and I would be happy to go into more detail if anyone wants to shoot me their contact info, ive been workin this line for over 15yrs and i breed for temperment and catching ability, they wont win any shows or bite anyones arm, never had one quit and i havnt had to climb a tree to get away from a hog they couldnt handle, but if a man didnt want to breed to them I wouldnt be upset, everybody knows what works for them and i know alot of peoples breeding standards arent as simple as mine, how are your dogs bred
