We have been hunting my ranch for awhile now and every time we get on our east fence line we start running a good boar and the dogs always seem to end up in the neighbors place that I didnt have permission to hunt. Well I finally got intouch with him and asked if our dogs ended up over there again if it was ok to come and get them. Well his answer really suprised me, I'd heard from other folks that know him that he is a hard azz and all. Well his answer was no dont just come in and get your dogs let them run them da*n hog and yall kill as many as yall can. So that really worked out great. My place is 3500 acres and his is another 4000. So lots of room to run dogs.
We decided to make a hunt Tues night and we started in his place and that place is covered with hogs. We droped the dogs out and within 20 minutes we had a good bay going about 260 yds from the truck. So Pete took off and I let the CD go from the truck. Thats the farthest I've let him go to a bay before on, so I didnt know how he'd do. Well they quit bayin before I thought the CD would get there, and about two minutes later they started bayin again about 40 yds from the first bay and then we heard the pig squeelin. Caught hog. We got there and it was a shoat about 40 lbs. Got it stuck and looked around, no CD. So we start callin for him and walkin back toward the truck. Well about 100 yds from the truck we hear somthing on the other side of one of the MANY brush piles and go around and there's the CD with another shoat about 40 lbs. So I guess he got there caught and the other dogs took off and caught another.
We finally got him off of the shoat and started back to the truck with the most of the other dogs. A couple of them took out on another trail already. Got back to the truck and loaded and asked Robert where the other dogs were, about 1000 yds out headin into a heck of a canyon that we've been in before and its a rough SOB.
We drove the truck around a little closer and let the dogs out. They head out a little ways and then they hear Rowdy bayin and there on there way to him. A few minutes later we hear them all start bayin. We waited a few minutes and we hear them catch. And they killed that one on there own and headed out.
After another hour or so we started to get them to come back in and called it a night.
A great hunt on a new place with lots of hogs and some really rough country.
Only got pic's of one Shoat. Hopefully many more to come from that place.
The dogs ready to be let out.
Little Bill my CD waitin to go to work.
