I bought 2 new DC 40s from Gun Dog Supply here while back and I'm very pleased with them so far. Gun Dog Supply is $199 I think it is on the 40s.....great folks to deal with too.

I got a few dc40s from lion country.  I like them so far.  $199 and they give you a free reflective dayglo collar and name plate.  Good people to deal with.

I would definitely go with the 40's. I just bought one here a couple of weeks ago from buy.com for 197 total and it only took 4 days to get here.

They are made alot tougher. You can google for the reviews on them. But everybody that has used to 30's know the collar shreds up, the chargin is a s-o-b, and we have about 4 that dont work very good anymore. The reviews say they dont pick up any better, but a couple of weeks ago ours picked up at 3.4 miles for just a brief sec, which was all we needed.

Do a 'Google' search for which ever collar you're looking for and it'll give u a 'shopping results' section and when you click on it u can scroll up and down for the best price...

I found, as far as charging the DC30, using a soft bristle toothbrush hold the charging contacts under running water and cleaning with the toothbrush works real well for me...

They don't have a port, they have a cradle that they snap into.....works like a charm.

on one of my collars the charging contacts are little and round. on the other, the contacts are longer. the one with the round contacts sux when it comes to getting the charger hooked up and really just sux all around. the other with the longer contacts works perfect and performs 10x better. Both are dc 30s but they arent the same.

Any one else have 30s with the little round contacts on the collar?

I used my 2 DC 40s again Tuesday morning.....dogs struck a runner that left the place. I still had contact with both at over 600 yards on just the short antenna, had to go to the long range one after that. They got to over 900 yrds. and I only lost contact for a second or 2 then, and this was in very hilly terrain too. I thought the collars worked great for me....I love 'em.
