Mike, Matt, Clay - Good times today. When I think back on the hunt, I can't think of what part I liked the most. Baying the hogs in the barn, running down two boars on the wheeler and mule, seeing Birdy working that big boar, or the special olympics race Catching this hog was bitter sweet. We have been pursuing this boar for the past 4 trips, and while I wanted to catch him, knowing he is no longer out there in that block of woods is a bit of a bummer. This hog in the forest might have been a good candidate for barring, but that was not an option on this property. There are plenty of other good hogs that we have seen and/or seen signs of on this property, just nothing of this caliber, yet! Clay, thanks again for caping him out for me. The hog is now at the taxidermist, and should be ready to hang on my office wall by February. Krystal, I am working on that serious look, Mike has it perfected, I just wanted to see if I was capable of being a serious hog hunter. You're damn right I was smiling on the inside. Des, We are not showing off, we just told the dogs before we turned them out that we did not want them to find a pin butted hog, we needed something with some mASS to it Bryant, There is no question, this lady is hooked. She has been on every hunt with us, gone to every bay, and then offers us cold beverages when the hunt is over. Her husband does not care to go, but is appreciative that the hogs numbers are being reduced. Here is a picture that was taken moments before Birdy came into view with ole four fingers. The red hog in the front is a pretty good sized hog. For those that have not seen this picture before, this is the damage that four fingers has been doing.

Circle C don't think there isn't one or two more boars in there as big if not bigger.Don't get caught with your pants down I have caught big hogs then the other good hogs realize the big hog yall caught has left his territory the next biggest steps up and defends his girls.Thats happens all the time on the ranch some times the other boars stay about 1/4 to 1/2 mile away and keeps trying to beat Mr Big just like other males then when he leaves the fight for dominace takes place all over again. The biggest and baddest wins.Good luck keepem coming.

But I'm still thinking about the age on Ol 4 Fingers, I dont think the new boar to fill his spot will be as destinctive because of a younger age. Ol 4 Fingers looked like a real old hog.

Josh, This is the best picture I have of his mouth. I do not know how to age a hog, so I am not sure if this picture means anything at all, but here it is anyway.

Scott, you mean you've never caught a 500# hog? I thought everyone had seen and either shot or caught a 500# hog, its the ones with the 8" teeth that are rare I think I am going to start doing guided hunts for 500# hogs, the fee schedule will be as follows. $2500.00 cash up front, no kill fee. If we do not catch a big one, I will refund 100.00

Realdogs
I guess we'll all have to keep trying. I can see doing with a barr, i've almost done it a couple of times. But, I want an intact boar hog... he's out there somewhere.

Guys, The 500# hogs are all in Louisiana, and so are the dogs that can catch them! Be careful what you wish for, if that big boar my buddy and me caught would have had any teeth, he most likely would have killed everything we had and then some. Joey
