After losing my catch dog "Girly" I was in need of a temporary fix.  I needed some catch power for several months until my two future catch dogs become fully grown.  My buddy Jeffry let me borrow a dog named "Chili" and another buddy Seth let me borrow a dog named "Teyuu".  This weekend was the first time I got to try them out.

We turned out at a new spot with a new face.  Our host Jenny, however, is defaintly a seasoned outdoors woman.  I really enjoyed the entire hunt.  We got on a good spotted boar pretty soon after dropping dogs.  All my kerrs were bayed really solid in a small creek.  I eased in cautious at first because I was wanting to make real sure it wasnt any trash they were baying but the bay was just so solid.  I got close enough and couldnt hold back any longer and we cut the two new catch dogs loose.  When we arrived at the creek both catch dogs were on an ear.  I'm still a little worried about Chili because he's missing both K9s.  Having Teyuu should be plenty of good help for Chili.  I'm gaining confidence with catchs like this.  One of my yellow dogs got a slice on his leg.

We got on another little group and ended up with just a little shoat.  It was a great night and I got to spend time with Jenny who really impressed me with her hunting knowledge and hunting style (and she's easy on the eye Grin Grin Grin).

Good looking spotted hog.

Does that dog/hog trailer ever get in the way when you are hunting? I have been contemplating building one, but cannot decide if it will be more trouble than benefit in the woods? Do you only use it in more open country, or do you use it on every hunt?

Chris, I love my little trailer.  I had thoughts of cutting the axle down to the width of my 4whlr when i started the build but decided agianst it.  I put alot of thought into the build and I'm happy because it fits me.  The main themes I focused on was being light overall weight and light tongue weight.  The "pros" of having the trailer far outweight the "cons".

Josh,

How much wider is the trailer than your four wheeler. I think if i put wide enough tires it will have some flotation effect in the mud, but I don't want to go so wide that I will hang up on trees all the time either.

Chris,

Since everyone's trailer is a custom build, you might want to have ideas about you want and then pull exact measurements off of existing trailers.  Your more than welcome to come on out to my place and look mine over or stretch a tape measure across it.  What usually makes someone happy or not is "the little things".  Liverpool isnt too far away for ya if you wanna come on out or I could take some pictures to post up.  Don't matter to me...

Not too sure how to answer that.  I raised every dog I'm hunting now out of my gyp.  I got her about 5 years ago from a buddy of mine out of Jourdanton and I believe he said her blood was out of a Blood Trailin Deer dog named Jethro that was owned by a man named Roy Heinz.  I crossed my Gyp to a dog named Bugsy from around Waco with the help of a man named Connely.  My second cross with my Gyp was to a dog named Junior owned by Daryl Marsh.  My third litter with my Gyp was a line breed.  How all of that equals a blood line, I'm not sure.

That black and tan lookin kerr is out of two BMCs.  My dog count is up to 13.  9 of them are kerrs.

Right now, I'm hangin on to what i got.  But, the stud that I bred to throws pretty dominant and if you want to breed to him I could probably get you in touch with Daryl Marsh.  Daryl owns the dog named Junior.

Here's a pic of the stud named "Junior".  My dog with those long ears looks alot like Junior.
