The 06 Dodge 5.9, 3500 is hard to beat. Thats what we have and it has held up great with 17mpg on average. We have owned ford, chevy, gmc, nissan, toyota, and this truck has been the best workhorse we have ever owned hands down.

Cant agrue with that Dinah! stick-n-move have one with twice the mileage on it as my truck and if was a 4x4 I would trade him out even if he was dumb enough to do it! Even if he was, his wife aint!  Grin She has been pulling a 50' 5 horse cowboy condo all over Texas for years in that truck and I dont think she will part with it for nothing!

Thanks again dangerzone! So whats the story on the new 2011 6.7L Cummings? A salesman was telling me last week that Dodge has replaced the old 6.7L with a modified 5.9L making it a 6.7L. Results - Less maintenace required!!! He was a salesman though.

I think there is a few running changes made for 2011 6.7 but basiclly the same eng. as 2010...6.7 and 5.9 short blocks and rolling assy's are almost identical and haven't changed,, little bore and stroke differance is all... cyl. heads are the big differance.

Dangerzone, you seem to be pretty knowlegable about this subject but do you know the warranty regulations about altering the exhaust ie. particulate filter.  I would like to add a delete kit.  I feel that piece-o-sheet is really choking down my engine.  I had an 06 with the six speed and now a 2010 with a six speed and the 06 would out pull the new one easily.  It's not as responsive either.  Thanks  Patrick.

Diamond .. As far as the warranty goes ..According to Dodge if you modifiy it all eng warranty's are void... But it is up to dealers discretion to report the modification or ignore it at the time of repair,,so it allways ends up are you in good with your dealer .. For the lack of acceleration it's hard to make assumption's but I would think there some fault with turbo operation .. The way the filter works if it's working correctly it should not effect power just fuel mileage it takes fuel to make it work..

Thanks Danger.  I dont think that I have a problem with the turbo, its just not as responsive as the 06, in my oppinion.  I really feel the air flow is the biggest problem.  The exaust air flow to be exact.  Like I said, thats just my oppinion.  Even with that I still would recomend the Cummins over the new cast block Ford is using, and the cost of uria treatment for them is high as well.  Anyways, if you want a real workhorse. Here it is.  Unfortunatly I just sold it.

Now this is a real Cowboy Caddy.  Ranchhand used it for a photo shoot and to make the rear wrap around.  Thats why it has a Ranchhand plate on it.  Honest Injun.
