We had a good little get together this morning out in Fort Bend County. It was our usual bunch, Chris, Mandi, Clay, Stacy, Ms. Joni and myself. But we also had Craig and his buddy Gerald down from Oklahoma and also Bryant, his buddy Travis and their two boys. We headed south to our guaranteed "honey hole" and struck out. So, we headed north to hit another block of woods they usually bed in. We stopped along the way and Gerald looked out past the cows and saw a hog coming our way. We all grabbed the dogs and headed out there with the wind in our favor. All the dogs caught scent and bayed up a whole group of hogs. They went to scattering and we ended up with one small sow in a pond and another one we tied. Craig, Mandi and I saw Lizzie roll out on a big boar hog and heard her baying way out across the pasture. We headed her way on foot... but along the way something caught my eye. I looked to my left and saw a little pile of brush kinda raise up and sit down. We eased over there and it was a nest. I could see one hind leg and Craig could see the snout. Mandi had the video camera rolling so we got it all on film. I said watch this... and reached down and grabbed the hind leg. That nest exploded and I said "oh $hit", dropped the hog and the lead Clifford was on. The race was on, he was side by side with this big, blonde sow and about two steps from grabbing that ear. They made it a good two or three hundred yards and he finally got the ear and sit her down. Of course Craig was in front of us and got her flipped... I got Clifford off and tied her up. Now that was an adrenaline rush! We got the three hogs loaded and all headed out to eat lunch and visit. I had a real good time today. It was good to see Craig again and Bryant it was real good to meet you and your bunch. 250# sow 80# sow 60# sow Craig, Clay, Chris and Bryant

Thanks fellas! Enjoy those honey holes while they last. I had a good one a couple years back and pulled over 50 hogs off in a month and a half... didn't see a track on the place for six months after that.

Bryant and crew - It was nice to finally meet y'all in person. Looking forward to the next time. Thanks again for lunch! Craig and Mr Barnhart - Y'all are OK in my book, even if you are okies! I had a great time today, and tell Mr Barnhart that next time we meet I will be sure to bring him a pint. Mike - Is it still considered "one out" when you don't even use a catch dog? We have caught between one and three hogs on each hunt on this property, I am sure our luck will run out soon, but it sure has been fun so far.

Thanks again guys for letting us tag along. We all had a really enjoyable time. Loosing my phone right off the bat really knocked the wind from my sails, but at least we caught some pigs!
Looking forward to doing it again!

Good job guys! That blond sow is perty, she sure got some elf looking hooves and declaws upon her. The black got them short stubby noses! alot of the ones we catch over off the Bernard river are short noses and tiny ears.

Yeah, we all got pretty dizzy watching it... it was kinda like the Blair Witch Project. But, it had good narration with you and Stacy... sweet!

We filled up on Mexican food and drinks after the hunt. I thought it was a small hog... when that nest blew up, I "curred out" and let go of everything!
