i started a dog today , he is a two year old i've been breeding named Maijor. i figured i'm saling pups for catch dogs off him and the stud aint workin just aint right . so i went down to the bay pen to work the girls for a little while and brought him with us. i put the girls in the pen and they went to choppin , went back to the truck and got him out , as we walked up to the pen he started wineing . when he seen the hog he went nuts my main catch dog doesn't even act like this. now you have to remeber this hog is every bit of 260pds. and was very fresh "had not been ran though the wood for 30 min. " . faced him off and the s**t hit the fan. as he ran in the hog latched on to his left side right behind th front leg , he latched on right below the ear on the jaw "i know a good way to get his throat cut" . but when he started shakein that hog sounded like someone took his n*ts. the hog went to run but maijor locked down and laid up next to him and turned him in a circle until i grabed his leg and tied him . now i'm new to hogs but not to dogs this is a man right here first time he seen a hog he did the job text book style "except for where he latched on" had to stop in and brag on my boy . i'd like to thank all the people on this board for their wisdom and help ! Thanks JUG

Sounds like he has it in him... really work on that catching behind the front leg. I've seen and heard of several that have met their maker that way.

If Im reading this right , the dog caught  the hog on the jaw (I like a jaw catch) and the hog bite the dog behind the leg. The best catchdog I ever owned allways caught on the jaw. (lost him to a gator)
