My bulldog is getting almost impossable to give a shot to I have never given them by mouth always by shot. What do yall use dosage etc

The only other way I know of is subcutaneous under the skin. I give 3-5 cc/ml penicillin and mix 1 or2 cc of b-12 in the same shot. Their is pills that are basically penicillin at the vet but in the muscle is best.

One thing that works for me after 2-3 days of shots and my bulldog thinks thats enuff is i take a snap and snap him directly from his collar to the side of the pen. I then take his backside and pen it against the pen with my legs and give the shot. He cant move and will most of the time be ok. Just alternate hips everyday. JUST MY 2 CENTS.

my vet give me Cefpodoxime 200mg tablets for bulldog ..i just wrap it in a half of slice of cheese ,works on all pills with my dogs eat it up ..hope that helps you ..

The pills are not that high from the vet and they work pretty well. There is also a type of penicillin that is a slow release, I think it is penicillin G, that you can give every third day. My vet said sub-q. The last time I bought it at the local feedstore. Pretty cheap and it went a long ways.

what kind of antibiotics are planningh to give orally? ask a question that has a million different possibilities, Give a liottle more info what type of pills do you have and what milligrams are they?
Amoxacillin?
Cephalexin?

I don't know have never given orally always just given pen or if bad baytril in a shot basiacly never given antibiotics to a dog by mouth so I'm in the dark there

To get pill you will have to go to the vet, and usually antibiotics are given twice a day by mouth, and the amount will depend on the size of dog,
Usually as an example for punctures/cuts bad enough to need antibiotics, I give the Cephalexin 250 mg twice daily for a ten day stretch. Some dogs will swallow a pill hidden in a weiny or wrapped in cheese slices, but others will pick the pill out and eat the good stuff, you have to make sure that the pills are swallowed and that you stick to keeping it in their system for the 10 day period to be as effective
I also collect left over antibiotics from family members that re not used to keep on hand, so I can start the dog immediatley when needed then can get some more from my vet when its not emergency visit.
