any1 ever seen a great dane on a hog in the woods i got one and was just wanting to see what ppl have see out of em
why does it say "The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator" when i try to put up a pic

Just one and he was always a problem. He finally grab the bulldog instead of the hog and that was the end of his career.

my male has the bull dog prob too lol they cant be around each other i fianly convinced the wife to let me put him in the pen so gonna try this week |

At first, big and strong dogs that did not necessarily belong to a certain breed were considered as Danes. Later on, names like Ulmer Dane, English Dane, Danish Dane, "Saupacker" (wild boar hunt) and big Dane described the different sizes and colors of this type. In 1878 a committee of seven, consisting of committed breeders and judges with the chairman Dr Bodinus, decided in Berlin to unite all varieties of the above-mentioned types under the term "Deutsche Dogge" (German Dane, ie Great Dane). Through this the foundation for the first German dog breed has been laid. In 1880, on the occasion of a dog show in Berlin, a standard for the Great Dane was determined for the first time. Since 1888, the "Deutsche Doggen Club 1888 e.V." is in charge of this standards and repeatedly modified it since.

Dont know much about them, but I do know that the Aussies do use them over there, but I dont think that those kind of crosses, much less a dane would fair good in E. Texas or N.W. Louisiana wildcat thickets. A dog that size gets up in there with a 150lb boar with an 1"1/4 teeth or better that knows how to use them would probaly endup looking like frankenstein if not dead. JMO

no one uses em pure. but with crosses like mastiff/dane, pitt/dane, bull arab/dane. The only pure breed used over here is the bull arab. 99.9 % of dogs over here have at least three breeds in their breeding. their all bitsa's

An old fellow I hunt with had a dane mix one time named big bertha. It was a pet that got too big for its owners and was given to him. I have no idea what it was crossed with.
He hunted horseback a lot and used it as a catch dog. It didnt hunt much, usually hung round the hunters until it heard a bark, then it would strike out and go catch, which worked fine for what he used her for.
