Its been a long time since I been on a hunt. My dad and brother had gone to a property that we hadnt been to in a long time...dont know why, but my brother had gotten a call from land owner that the hogs had gotten really bad so they went and caught three good sows. It was during the week so I didnt get to go  :'( Anyway we went on Sunday got there early and met up with land owner, his two sons niece and nephew. It was me, dad, and two brothers chino and manny. We took chinos two catch dogs Bo and Dualy, my two bmc's Montero and Paloma, Cody, Willie and young dogs Sancho, Chameleon, and Mocha. We started off on a side of the property where LO had seen a big boar but the dogs did not find anything so we went to another side that had some nasty brush that was waist high and as soon as we got in the dogs started working and we heard Willie open up then we heard Montero open up so me and my brother Manny ran towards them but as we got closer the hog broke but the hog mad a loop towards us, my brother had gotten ahead of me and we were in some thick stuff and I was stuck when I hear the dogs open up less than 10 yards ahead of me and then I see a black "COW" running straight at me  Shocked All I saw on this hog was how tall and wide it was me and my brother are guessing well over 200 pounds! I only had time to yell "OH $*%T" and move my right hip and butt out of its way!!!  Shocked Dogs were right behind him and never could get him stopped! But they did get on a nice sow. We got to her, I got to stick it and it was a done deal....but then I had to hear how I jumped 5 feet in the air to dodge a shoat  Cheesy They know dam well that hog was big! I never heard the end of it for the rest of the hunt lol  my dad kept asking me where my knife was when that hog was coming at me because I always say I need a knife to go in the woods lol And I cant believe we didtn catch that sucker...maybe next time  Wink We kept hunting walked a lot and came back to the area we had caught that sow. The dogs opened up again like 5 more times but could not keep up with them in that brush. We saw plenty of hogs but we had walked a lot and in really rough stuff so the dogs were tired...we finished around 3 pm and went back to camp. I was so excited to see how our young dogs are hunting they keep getting better and better and its amazing how they are so much alike the dogs they came from. Remind me so much of the dogs they came from, definately our best breedings so far. We had lots of fun and the kids got to see a lot of action and had fun loving up on my bros catch dogs. We also were proud of our young dogs cause they did not mess with his cows, he has had problems before with other people so that was good.  we had to walk through them a lot of times during the hunt, he was pretty amazed that the catch dogs being loose did not mess with them either. All in all if was a fun day. We all needed the therapy lol

Sorry I didnt get pics of the dogs but I was so excited about going hunting I really did not care to have the camera on me on the hunt.

Chance we never buy pork at the grocery store  Wink

Ninja I am really proud of our pups. Our little gyp hunts just like her dam....she has the same habits as her to. Its been a great pleasure raising those pups and then seeing them turn into good dogs.

And im SO READY to go back and catch that one hog that got away! Hopefuly the next time I post it will be because we caught em!
