My dogs are yella.  Anyone got any pics of yellow dogs with freeze brands??  if so Post them up..  thanks.

Look at the sticky on Hog Dogs called Dog Identification-Brands.

I'd think the white wouldn't show up just real good. On that other thread though if you hold it a lil longer then you would for the white hair it'll just leave a bald spot almost like a fire brand. I wouldn't think that'd look 2 bad on a yella dog imo

I've seen a one yellow dog with a freeze brand.  I think it must of been left on alil to long, cuz at first glance it looks like a hot brand would look like on a cow.  It doesn't look to bad in my opinion, it definitely shows up good enough to say "that dog is mine".

they'll just hold the iron on it longer so it kills the follicle instead of just the pigment.

Oops, I know I have seen it on yellow dogs but they were darker yellow and the brand was white. I know that on white dogs you leave it on longer and the hair falls out. I will look around for the pics I saw.

Here is a yellow dog. Just left brand on for about 6 seconds longer than darker dogs. Instead of white hair you get no hair. Brand is a horseshoe B

Always use nitrogen, haven't had much success with alcohol and dry ice.

12 to 14 seconds to take the hair off, you got to have a feel for how thick hided they are. Still learning on the dogs. Horses are probably alot easier( or maybe it's because I've done quite a few) One thing I have noticed, seems that the longer haired a dog is the thicker the hide and requires a couple more seconds than the shorter haired dogs. This will hold true to horses also. I'm no pro, trial and error. If in dought don't hold as long, its alittle harder but you can go over later. ( and I have) Good Luck!
