Tuner, chip, programmer, hot box, whatever you want to call it.
Been a bunch on here but none that'll fit my application.
Somebodys gotta have one in the barn. Let me know.

Come on. I know there's one out there. Box/directions will say for anything 1994 to 1998. 1999 was the 24v so that won't work. I know there's one on a workbench not being used somewhere.    Wink

Good buddy that 12v can be turned into a race truck by just changing the fuel plate in the mechanical fuel pump and turn the stat wheel up. You could google about and probably do it ona Saturday afternoon.  You can just grind the original plate or order off eBay for less than $20 bucks. Do that, remove the air box and buy a large element air filter also known as a BHAF and pop the silencer ring out of the turbo and it will sound like an airplane haha. Oh yeah, when you start jacking with that mechanical fuel pump go ahead and start saving for a new tranny too....you will have a hard time keepin your foot out of it Smiley.

Yes sir Slim, Matt hit the nail right on the head. Those are your options for a 98 12V. There is no such thing as a programmer for a 12V being that it has a mechanical pump. I suggest if you grind the plate to get someone who has done it before so you can get the right tweak on it.

That's not correct I have a chip that is made for a 98 model dodge took it off mine when I traded it in still in the original box!! It has to be a 98 1/2 to a 2000. It adds 55-60-70 horses!

Matt, I know all about that, and am going to slide the plate forward, and adjust the Star wheel, but I'm not going to grind the plate or buy one because I'm not messing with buying any gauges. I've been doing tons of reading and watching Youtube videos on how to tweak it. I also joined several diesel forums to read up on it and everywhere I've read they say to be real careful or you'll get your EGT up too high and start thrashing stuff. I'm still gonna drive it like an old man but when I'm running down the highway and some Yuppie in a rice burner or Prius gets in my way I want to just be able to mash it and smoke his tail into the ditch and run off and leave him, more so that now. I'm not too worried about the tranny at this point as I ain't no hot rodder and will always be gentle on it as I intend to hit 500,000 miles before I have to rebuild this one. I may work on it some this weekend and I'm quite mechanically inclined but I'm just afraid I don't know enough about to truly tune it correctly so as not to screw too much up.

Bayin man, I replied to your PM and that one should say on the box it's for a 1998.5 to 2000, and that is for the 24V. 1998 and down is the 12V, the good un. Grin

Slim,

     There's not anything to "tune/program" on the 12v. That's the beauty of the engine right there. All mechanical.  Go ahead and get you a "zero plate", a 4k spring kit, a Bladwin PA2820 air filter,  and some 4-5" exhaust from the turbo back, a pyrometer, and put aside some money for another tranny.

You can find the fuel plates on Ebay for ~$30.00 if you don't want to grind your own.

Not happening. That list there, especially with a new tranny is more than payed for the rig.  Grin

Spring kit = $100.00
Baldwin PA2820 = $40.00
Pyro = $150.00
Exhaust = $200.00 (I built my own 5", bought the components at a truck shop)

With my experiences you'll have to worry about your lift pump n injection pump b4 your tranny lol.

I burned through an auto tranny in a bout two months on my 06, had a racing tranny built and its pretty dang expensive. be careful, once you see a little bit of a difference in power it gets addicting...
