Kerry, that is one good looking pup! I am glad to see he is doing good. To me, he was the pick of the whole litter and looks more like Monkey than any of the other pups. I haven't been on the boards in a while due to work and such so thanks for letting me know you posted the pics, he looks real good. Hope he hunts as good as he looks!

Dylan, your pups are growing too. They look more like JJ than Monkey to me, at least in those pics.
John, not sure why your pup looks so different, even her head is different shaped.

Chance, I told you that you guys may have to handle that pup differently! Lots of these dogs are one person dogs and definately don't like strangers. Its just something in them. Just ask Kerry about the yelllow pup he posted pics of and the exterminator.... Grin

I will try to get my two pups to stand still long enough to get a decent pic of them and will post it if I can get one.

On a sad note, a hunting buddy of mine had a male from the first Monkey x JJ cross and he was about 2 1/2 years old.  He didn't hunt him much last winter due to girlfriend issues, but got that resolved and has been hunting the hair off the dog this fall and winter. Dog was doing great, they went two weeks ago and caught 14 hogs (1 was a 240+ lb barr with 3" teeth) in one day with him and a couple other dogs on a lease they have. They got one dog cut down and this dog poked full of holes but went back last Saturday. They carry guns, just in case, and had already caught 3 hogs. The Monkey x JJ male pulled out and bayed a ways from them. He bayed for a while before some other dogs of theirs got to him and when the guys got there, there was a whole wad of hogs rallied up. Most were sows and they didn't want to kill them but there were a couple of good boar hogs in the group and when one ran out, one of the guys threw up his shotgun and shot, just as the Monkey male caught him on the ear. The dog took the impact of the buckshot at 10 yards in the head and was killed instantly. It also destroyed the Garmin collar he had on and put 5 holes in his cut collar. This was one hunt I was glad I was not on....not a good day....

Shooting a shotgun at a bay has got to be the dumbest thing I can think of.  I did it one time several years ago, but it was after I told the pack to "break".  Reflecting back on it, I wished I had never done it.  Way too many "what ifs".   Wink

The male for sure, but In person i think my female looks like monkey, more so when she is tired.
But i am very happy with them so far, good personality and real good looking dogs. and when i take them in the woods for a walk, the puppy play stops, they are nose down, exploring.

i agree with cutter it is pure stupid to shot a shot gun at a hog while dogs are near it baying. but i guess he learned his lesson the hard way thats a sham about the dog... bad judgement
