Well as yall know I started off the week last week with a good hunt with paul in the panhandle and caught three sows and a boar. I had two finals that monday mornin and then headed back home from Tech to the DFW area. Got home and saw the girlfriend then headed to the ranch to hang with one of my buddies. When I got there he said "lets go kick out the hounds". Of course I was ready as usual and the dogs were still in the box from traveling so we dicided to go for it. Me and my buddy Cary took one of his pups (a bmc x plot), my Lacy, and my dogo. We hit the bottom land and worked our way up on a ridge where we thought they were feedin. Sure enough lacy and the pup opened up about four hundred yards out, so I cut soco. He ran in and the sounder broke. As we are makin our way to the bay about fourty hogs ran by us headin down to the bottoms. We headed on to the bay and when we were almost there we realized soco was "treed" about three hundred yards the other way. I went and got him (he was caught on a young boar) and cary went on to the bay. The bay ended up back down in the bottoms and as I was walkin soco that way I could hear cary yellin "cut him lose". I cut him lose about 350 yrds out and heard him hit and it went silent. Made my way to Cary, Soco was caught and the cur dogs were on a hot track back up towards the ridge. Soco was caught on a monster and it was thick. He would stay still then we would get close and the hog would hear us and start trottin off with soco. Finally after about 30-45 min of soco gettin drug around by this big guy he got drug off, the hog split right by us and I jumped on soco as he was hot on the boars trail. We took him back up on the ridge to the next bay and caught another young boar about a hundred yards from the first one. I forgot to mention that while we were huntin we ran into a poachers camp, fire still burnin but they were off in the woods hiding, the first sounder we struck was less than 100 yrds from them haha. We went back the next mornin to take pictures and found the poachers blind. Got a picture of the first young boar, the second had been drug around and tore up by the yotes.

The next night me, Chad (cwhite), Cary, Lindsay (my girlfriend), Kaily one of her friends thats been doggin since she could walk, and a buddy of mine, Carson, who I used to play ball with, he now plays for Boston (first timer) headed out across the highway from where me and Cary hunted the night before. We took Soco, Lacy, One of Chads cats Sam, Kailys new pup (sister to Carys bmc x plot), and Carys pup. Soon as we get in the woods Kailys pup trashed on a deer. We get the dogs back and head on in. Not a hundred yards further the dogs open up. We could tell we had a good one because Sam was bayin. I cut soco at first bark and it was on. We moved into the bay and I could smell a good boar. It was so strong I start lookin around makin sure one didnt come out of the brush on the girls and I see soco just standin in some brush barely movin. I though he had gotten his gear stuck in some vines or somethin till I move closer and my light glimmers on some ivory and I hear a chomp. It was a good 200 lbs boar that he caught by himself and was handlein with ease.  I hurry in and grab the boar. Cary comes and grabs some leg and I stick him. Chad moved on the the bay where Sam had caught a smaller sow and gathered the other dogs. It was a good quick hunt and a great boar for a newby. We were back at the ranch and in the hottub with some cold beer in thirty min.

Me and Boar head

After three days of huntin I gave the dogs a break on Wednesday, Thursday me and Lindsay headed out to My buddy Brians in east texas. We headed the the first spot that evenin (we usually hunt mornins out there but Brian had to be at work alot). We hit one of our hot spots and Lacy struck them quick. Cut soco, Caught hog. On our way to the catch we had a good boar run out in the road. We caught a decent boar about 125 lbs and took him out alive. I took lacy back to where that pig had run out to the road and she took the trail. Started bayin about 600 yrds across a field at a tree line and we cut the rest of the dogs out of the rhino and let Soco go. We got there, soco was caught on a sow that was about 125 lbs and the dogs were bayed up again about 200 yrds away. I got soco off and they tied, while I turned him lose on the other bay. Caught hog again, Another sow about 125 lbs. Tied him and Brian and Lindsay went and got the truck. Got them all in the trailer, and hit another spot for a dry run. Then we hunted again the next night for a dry run, then sat mornin at a place I caught about a 300 lbs boar two weeks ago, and it was another dry run. All in all we had a good time out there and caught three good pigs.

Brians way of watering the hogs haha

Lindsay and Brian on the Rigs

Me and Lindsay headed back Saturday after noon to go to a concert she wanted to see, she had been huntin with me all week so I owed her haha. Sunday mornin we went to my parents house, scooped up my sister and headed east to my grandmas for a family christmas lunch. My grandma has been havin a hog come root up a little by her mile long driveway so I brought her a trap. There wasnt much rootin so I figured it was just a lonely boar. As we were settin the trap my uncle suggested kickin some dogs out in the bottoms at the back her her place. We were on the front fifty by a pole that had some good rubs on it so I just put lacy on the ground she started makin her way towards the back of the property so we met her at the dividing fence and grabbed her up. Stuck a trackin collar on her and geared up soco, stuck a trackin collar on him, and my girlfriends deaf cat pup and let them all three run. We slowly made out way to through the back fifty to the bottoms. Soon as we hit the back trees the dogs were gone. Me, my sis, Lindsay, and my uncle all got out the truck and fifteen seconds later I check the garmin and soco is treed 250 yrds in and lacy is headin towards him, another few seconds and lacy is opened up. We make our way in and its a good boar about 175 lbs. Me and my uncle leg him and my girlfriend lindsay comes in to stick her first pig. Another good easy hunt with a pretty good boar. Lindsay cat even got in there and sniffed him a little hog, and got a little taste of hog blood Smiley!

Lindsay and the knife she got from her Aunt the day before that she stuck the hog with

Little dog killers that bit through socos leg flap

All in all it was a fun successful week full of hunting, nothin I would rather be doin on my break than spending time with friends, family, dogs, and having some good hunts.
