Just buy a pregnant black mouth cur gyp and raise all of the pups and train them yourself with one old dog that is dead broke, not every dog breeder puppy mill out there, find somebody with a older gyp who used to start her own hog and bayed it solo and rolled out good, good lucck.

x2, she doesn't have to be pregnant when bought but buy her to breed her on the first chance you have and raise and select the best pups to the best of your ability.

  Actually she does need to be pregant from the guy you are breeding her from in my mind, pay more for a bred dog and get her bred to what he says is the best reproducing dog he has, it mite cost more but its worth it to make sure she is preggy and still able to have them and raise them, buy and or build a hog farrowing type dog box for her to whelp all of the pups in and get replament milk and really do a good job on the litter and her beofe she whelps.  You might get 8 or 10 pups to raise adn select from if u do it like that,  I did this several times and got to raise all of the pupes together and see how did they trained up from the beginning.  Pay extra for a bred gyp from his best stud and you will never be sorry, keep 4 or 5 and sell the rest and you get free dogs and the top pick.  If you dont like the litter production sell them or give them away to cow peeps.

Guess that knocks me out, i dang sure aint affraid to get muddy, nasty, wet cold, or run miles on end, but there just aint anybody hunts curs up here.

 So I am open to suggestions as to where the best or one of the best places to look for a well built, cold nosed long range cur.  Thanks

That's the trait that will knock a lot of BMC lines out.  Very hard to find, especially since I've been told it's not a true quality of a well-bred cur.  I've hunted for a lot of years and seen a lot of dogs, and I can count without taking my shoes off the number of people who I know that are personally breeding and CONSISTANTLY producing those type dogs.  Most are next to impossible to get stock from, as they work their dogs and typically only raise a litter when they need some.  I almost hesitate to call someone like that a "breeder" per say, because in my mind a breeder is one who's producing pups with the intent of supplying a demand.

I knew that was coming,  lol   Im already one step ahead, or on the same page anyway, and cant argue that at all.  and hopefully if the good lord is willin and all goes as planned, i already have one on order

I always put that in there, cause i think long range means different things to different people.  I actually dont want a dog that hunts out a mile. But one that will at least roll out 300 - 500 yrds.  The range aint as important to me as nose, and i now that they are not known for that either, but if they have a good enough nose, it will lead them to the hogs.

Just dont want something that wont get out of eyesight
