I am looking for suggestions on a roof mounted gun rack for a Mule. The only real requirements are that it fits this gun... http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/48625
and that it holds the gun securely, so that there is no bouncing/rattling while crossing rough terrain.

Here are a couple that I have seen online, but looking for some input from people on here that have and use them.

Chris, that second one is junk. I've had one. It is basically like the old upright racks that go in the back window of the truck, except it has a small cheap velcro strap that pulls the gun into the "U" shaped holders. It won't last long at all. Most of the good Law Enforcement racks will be the most secure, as they are designed for more of the type of use you will be doing (designed to hold during high speed and pursuit driving), and that sounds more better for your application.  Wink

P.S. I do not think any of them are waterproof. Grin Sorry buddy, had to say it.

Thanks Slim,    That is the kind of info that I need.  I have some friends in LE, maybe I can get them to scavenge one for me from a wrecked/surplus unit.

That's why I am looking for a roof mount, hoping that I won't ever end up in 5' of water. Grin

BTW,
I will be somewhat in your neck of the woods this weekend. Heading to Seymour to get a little more deer hunting in. Gonna be a LONG drive just to shoot a deer!

A salvaged one from a wrecked cruiser would be your best bet, I'm guessing.

For the mules sake, I hope not, but sure would make an awesome photo. Grin
Cool, good luck, Mike and his bride will be traveling to his inlaws there (Seymour) after he works the Tech game on saturday as well.
You won't be but 140 miles from my hunting country and 200 from our home.
That's a long way to drive to hunt, so if all else fails, holler and I'll give you directions and meet you at my place, seriously!
Ain't no way you can go home empty handed. Cheesy

Slim,

I hope I don't have to take you up on your offer. I know nothing about the ranch I will be hunting, as it was setup by my FIL. Just that his friends hunt the place every year, and have had a pretty high success rate. Hoping it ends up being worth the drive.

Get the first one, big sky is what most of the guides around here use for roof mount rifle racks in the hunting trucks

Russ,

Thanks. Looks like that is the one I need to get.
