Bottled 100 gallons of Black Gold today and finished up around 4PM. Dad said that he wanted to head down to the rice fields and try and get some more pork to use in making deer sausage on Friday so we quickly closed up the shop, grabbed the rifles, and loaded up the truck with the whole family. My mother, dad, wife, 2 kids, and myself squeezed in like sardines, but were all heading out together for an evening of hunting (which rairly happens) so smiles were on everyone's faces.
Once we were at the farm the kids stayed in the back in their car seats and the farmer's wife drove and mom rode shotgun. Dad and Laura (my wife) worked spot lights and I was shooter. On the edge of one of the old fields a group of hogs were spotted and this golden blonde dandy was the largest in the group. Trusty 'ol .45-70 govt put her down for the count. My boy Gus was so excited he couldn't stand it. We took the sow to the barn and removed the 4 quarters and backstraps.....Backstraps for the pit and the rest for sausage.....
Good hunt with 3 generations of WEISER.........nothing comes close my friends......
