Kimber 1911 .45 acp just in case. I have only shot one time in 2.5 years and that was because the guy with the catch dog would not turn him loose to the bay. I have my own catch dogs now.

I carry one just for insureance mainly. The pistol I carry is a .357, very accuriate. The rifle is a marlin guide gun in 45-70, alot of power in a small package.

back before i statred hunting with my buddy josh and his dogs, i used to carry a uberti cattleman 1873 in 45 long colt or my 22mag single shot. all i had was one dog and he wasnt always predictable, so thats what i needed and never ran into any trouble. nowadays the only guns i carry are the ones that God and football gave me

We always carry a 3030. Its not for the hunt, we carry it because when you go to the woods its just best to have that kind of protection if you need it.

im a retired scout sniper retired april 2010.i carry my 45-70govt rifle single shot and let me tell ya i can knock down a deer at 1200 yards with it.NEVER underestimate the power of a gun or weapon for that matter you never know whose on the other end using it.i will upload a video from this years deer hunt of my dropping a doe at 1118 yards with hornady leverevotion ammo 325 grains packs a punch at that range and has dropped many hogs in its tracks,iv never had a hog move an inch when shot with it.

You hard core catch dog people are going to change your minds about hunting with guns as you get older, two bad knees a bad shoulder and a plate in my neck won’t let me leg’um any more. After twenty years my 357 mag, my dogs and I have killed many hogs in the past ten years.

I carry a Glock .45... but I hunt in the city a lot and need it in case I run into a crackhead. Mike i have that same problem, except where i hunt they only give me a glock 40..lol In all seriousness i carry my 40 with me everywhere.. Mostly for protection, sometimes work just jumps in your lap while your trying to have fun/relax. The number 2ty reality to it is there is always that chance youll run into a poacher that dont want to get caught and you better believe they have a weapon of some sort.

Running Jagdterriers always brings with it the "varmit" side of the world. I may go into a bay to find a dang skunk backed up to a log - which is why I carry a sidearm. I utilize two sidearms, one is a cheapo .22 Mag single action that stays in close proximity to me, either on the Rhino or in the console of the truck. Now, some hunts we go on, we are not allowed to take long guns, and have to kill the pig immediately, no tying or live removal (state lands), and for those hunts, I carry a Taurus Judge. I carry both .410 slugs and birdshot. The birshot does wonders on snakes, and if you don't know me, I scream like a little girl at a snake.
As for long guns pig hunting, if shooting from a stand, I will take my sons .243 since I like it so much. That little hollow point to the head is amazing. I once got to shoot a .357 lever gun on a hunt in Texas and for some reason, I want one of those real bad. It kind of reminded me of the old show "The Rifleman" which I watched as a kid!
