This is the 1st time we got to take the dogs out since deer season ended so we were really excited and ready to get on some hogs. We get to the first place to hunt and we turn the 4 strike dogs out and start to road(drive) around the place. We get about 300 yard in and the dogs are gone so we stop and listen...... shortly after turning the truck off we hear them bay about 500 yard away so we drive around to see if we could get a little closer and we get about 300 yrs out and turned the catchdogs loose...they cough so we went and stuck it. the hog only weighed about 200lbs but had some nice cutters what we call "dog killers". two of our dogs (gonzo and pedro)roll off a hog once we stick it. so they were not around after we started to head back for the truck...if the dogs dont find anything around were we killed the hog they usually show back up at the truck. we gonzo met us at the truck along with all the other dogs except for pedro so we just thought he was either tired or tracking another pig. so we decided to move slowly around to the other side of the place. on our way we strike up another hog and it runs almost all the way back to were we killed the original boar. so we finally get there to kill it only to notice that pedro never came to this bay. so we pulled out the tracking box and track him all the way back to the original hog...there he laid about 30 yard from the 1st boar we got on...dead. his jugular had been cut and he rolled of the hog only to die a few yards away. i have saved one of my catchdogs life by sowing up his jugular two different times only because i caught it right away. Maybe if he had stayed on the hog a little longer were i could notice the cut or blood, maybe i could have saved him too...the first pic is of the hog that killed him and the second is a pic of him last year(he is the big blue and gold cat on the top of the box) and the third is a pic of him a few years ago(big cat on the neck)....he was only 5 yrs old and in his prime, one of the best dogs we have owned....:'( thanks for reading, mrs.kbar he is the dog on the far right side of the pic he is the big cat on the neck

That place is bad luck. Big teeth on the hogs for their size. Pedro was an outstanding dog. I don't think I've ever seen a dog run a track as fast or roll out as fast as he did. I tried to buy him from Tyler many times and there was no way in hell he was ever gonna let that dog go. I know you guys are going to miss him. Here's a well equipped hog that Gonzo struck on that same place last year. http://i333.photobucket.com/albums/m377/jeffhansen5411/Photo_020709_004.jpg?t=1294490316Rest in peace Pedro.
