Myself ,Kyle , Conner and one Rookie Hog Dog Hunter !

This is a story about people that don't want to listen !

Boy Boy Boy and Boy again ! Dropped the dogs out at 7.30 with end 5-10 Min's it was on and when I say it was on it was freaking on . A big big big bad Red Boar hog they had him bayed for no more than 2-3 Min's and the chase was on . The Chase took us due north for about a mile and a half they had him bayed I know alt least a hour but it was on property we didn't have permission to get on so Finlay get permission go in there the hog takes off way before we can even get close and the chase was on again .

This time back the same direction we came , well he gets almost back to were he started and turned due north west. Well we had to park and walk . I know who's land we was on for about a 2 miles no problem so we go and go and go and go. After about 4 miles I no longer know who's land we are on and its not a good feeling we could hear the dogs bayed and bayed hard. So we decided well we got to go cause they ain't coming off .

So here we go now I got Kyle my little Nephew and a friend who is no were near a finished hog doggier just likes to hunt .

Well we get to about 25 yards from the bay and Am steady telling this guy slow down don't rush he ain't going no were the big boar will spook and take off well here he goes and again am telling him slow down we got to sneak in there , Well his Adelina was pumping I guess and he got ahead of me again got about 15 yards from the bay thick brush cant see and the man is still steady walking the boar hears him and breaks bay again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Am starting to get irritated on the inside now .

Well they stopped him again about 200 yards the 300 lb boar is getting tired now so again am telling this man hold on slow down man slow down well we get to with end 25 yards I can see the big boar threw the brush and tress .

I tell him hold on hold on we can sneak in there and before I could get it out of my mouth booooooooooooooom he pulls the trigger and the hog is gone for good he leave the country .

Well I got lucky and started calling in dogs still in hearing distance and I got to admit Am a little bit pissed off ~~~

All this work , All this running , all this dog work and let me tell you they done their job and done it well I could not be a prouder man of the way my dogs worked but it was all for noting because of a Rookie dog hog hunter .

I understand that people get the Adelina pumping and I understand they want to shoot a hog but my Gosh Rookie dog hog hunters at least listen to somebody that knows what the hell is going on .

There was at least four are five big trees in between me and the big boar and I could have easy snuck up there between the tree and about ten yards from the hog and put him to sleep but no the Rookie got hog fever and everything was for noting ! At the expense of my dogs and other fellow hunters !

This man is my friend and has been a long time but if he is going to hunt with me again I can assure u he will listen are never hunt with me again but still be my friend just not hunt with me and my dogs !

There is more to the story but I will leave it at this !

Disgusted !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like something that would happen to me. Prime example of why I'm the only one that carries the the gun. There's always next time!

The ole boy is  agood good friend and really a great hunter and a damn good hand with a gun and is a older man thats been aroudn when it comes to hunting  but were the difference lies is he is not a well schooled hog dog hunter a true rookie from what I can see and that is were people really really get things screwed up .  They think they can just walk in and shoot no questions ask well it dont work like that and thats what I kept trying to tell him .  It was a tuff day damn !

sounds like you need to get yourself a nice catchdog, one that you can cut loose from 100 yards away. also an important trait might be to make sure he is fast enough to at least out run your friend...  Cheesy

Those rookies get to excited and mess
everything up sometimes. Had almost
the same thing happen yesterday,but
I was lucky to take my black mouth
(poncho) to stop that hog. I normally
tell them to wait and slow down if we
bay up to not to spoke the hog..
Sorry to hear you not catching the hog,
theirs nothing like bragging about
your dogs after a long run and catching
a good hog!!!

friend or no friend if im the one whose feeding the dogs and taking care of them then my rules apply just ask any of my friends and they will tell you that i tell them like it is then were friends after if they cant respect my wishes or experience then they can find someone else to take them hunting you just need to consider your self lucky that this so called HUNTER didnt shoot one of your dogs in his power trip to be the one to get the kill...if he wouldnt listen the first time i told him to slow down I WOULDNT HAVE BIT MY TONGUE i wouldve put him in his place real quick like in a hurry if shooting over your dogs is your hunting style then you might want to reconsider who carries a gun.....dont mean to step on toes here but people who have no self control can turn a situation like that into something bad real quick like

Yup well there is no doubt about it that hog would have been done if it was not for his inexperince, no doubt none at all.  I will hunt with him again he is a good friend but he will  have to  listen if not  then I cant  hog hunt with him.  I don't hold noting against him at all other than he needs to listen when he is hog hunting with dogs.  Other wise am sure he is a good hunter of other game I have no doubt about that.  Like I said he is a older man but it makes no difference if you are inexperinced at something there is always room to learn .  Just because someone has hunted all there lives and are expeirnced at one type of hunting  does not mean they know everything about all the different kinds of hunting .  Different  methods apply to different types of hunting and game .  This hunt is were all of his years and years of experince did him no good at all and worked against him because he thought he knew what he was doing beause of it .  No one knows everything and there is always room to learn .

I don't know much, but a little knowledge is a terrible thing. Some folks that have a lot of 'hunting experience' often let that knowledge over ride their intelligence and are just plain useless

You did the best you could at the time seems to me like. You can't MAKE somebody listen to you and heed your advice. Make him leave his firearm at the truck if you let him go anymore. Seems like a good talking to would help this old boy out once he calms down.

it may just be me(mrs.kbar) but i value my dogs way to much to have someone els besides my husband shooting a hog that my dogs are baying. we use catchdogs a lot, but sometimes we like to just take a few strike/bay dogs out and shoot the hog(s) once they are bayed. the only rule i have for anyone that goes is my husband does the shooting!!! they dont want to pay the price i have on my dogs if they shoot one by accident!!! lol

I can honestly say I know exactly how you feel. That's why I try to hunt with people with more experience than me. I had a boy ruin a good bay several times and swore I'd never bring him hawg huntin again but he asked me to bring him duck huntin'. He's got a duck dog, duck boat, expensive shotgun and talked like he knew everything about it so I figured I wouldn't have to babysit him on this hunt. I was using 3" magnum shells and I can reach out there and get 'em pretty good but he was shooting way before they were in range and scaring them off before I could get a shot. That ticked me off pretty good but to make it worse, after the shooting was over I go to pick up all the shells and he is shooting short brass #8 shot. I wanted to beat him to death. I had several extra boxes of shells he could have shot. I asked him why he did that and he said cause they were the cheapest ones at wal-mart. OH! and on top of that I brought him squirrel hunting a while back and dropped him off on the east side of our property and I started on the west side. I told him we would meet in the middle and to just take his time. Before I made it 100 yards he had already walked all the way across the property (about 800 yards) with no squirrels. I had 5 and was just sitting in one spot. He said he saw one but when he ran over to where it was it had disapeared! That's why I like my dogs so much. They've got way more common sense.

As hard as we try we can't always avoid the peckerheads out there. Ole Cutter is always talking about karma. It looks like it's already coming around to visit him(land owner- former dogger).

Haha! How did I post this on the wrong thread? O well, I'm still trying to get a handle on this Ipad from crapple!
TexasHogDogs, this post was supposed to be on your trespassing thread!  Embarrassed

O well. That's the problem with taking rookies that won't listen! We have to experience their learning curve with them! If he is that good a friend, he will understand if you slap him on the back of the head next time!
