Are there anyother diabetics on this forum. I was diagnosed 15 months ago as type 1 at the age of 25. It is has put a damper on my life but the brakes where never fully applied. I have had to take extra precautions to continue to hunt with my dogs, ride horses and stuff but its well worth it has each of my kids have shown interest in this stuff and will like to get them going really good.

Hey bro you are not alone.I was diagnosed at the age of 26 as type 2.I almost went into a coma.But got past all.Pm me sometime.I know its not the same but it is.Really put the brakes on me for a while but don't let it do that to you!

While I don't have diabetes I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia about two and a half years ago. I never go anywhere without snacks, eat about every two to three hours, and have to really watch how I feel when doing any kind of activity. At first it is extremely hard to get used to but I stick to a strict diet and exercise and try to get plenty of sleep at night. With the right adjustments and checking your blood sugar you will learn to manage it. I was 26 when I found out I had it to.

my nephew is 11 and he was diagnosed as a type 1 a year ago and it did hit us all hard at first cuz hes an active lil terd. we have all had to learn to make small lifestyle changes but now that hes used to it, there aint hardly no slowing him down. hes a hunting son of a gun. hang in there man,

one of the worst parts is the loss of control of what you can and when you can eat and feeling like you are constantly hungover or fatigued.

Let me tell ya what it took me almost two yrs to find the right meds.My sugar was almost 600 when I made Dad take me in.They tested for everything except diabetes.Its strong on Dads side.16 out of 18 have it.None on Moms side and there are 13 of them.It was eating me from the inside out.Super active,kayaked and hunted but pancreas needed a lil help and I never ate carbs or breakfast.I will tell u this an Endocronologist is the only way to go.

Do you have an endocronologist that you would recommend? Where are you located? My husband's dr. just moved and we need to find another one. Thanks.

I work at a teaching hospital and a lot of docs will refer you to specialist such as endocrinologists at a teaching hospital. I would suggest if this is the case that you request....no demand an attending not a doc in training.

I was diagnosed with type 2 about three yeras ago because i got too fat. I have since controlled it by changing my diet, I also have a son that enjoys hunting and all kinds of outdoor activities. It is definitely a life changer but you have to be strong, my dad has lived with type 1 for 50 yrs and is going strong at age 71.
